  1. Your riggers are minimal draw, and they are not spinning all day long, so your boats charging system will recover any batter drain quickly. The AP really doesnt draw much power either. Radar, Inverters, water pumps, and things that make heat are what will kill your batterys faster than your charging system can recover. I'm assuming you are trolling(i.e. motor running) while you are using these devices, correct? You are probably fine with a two dual purpose battery switched bank.
  2. You probably have a SportPilot or SportPilot Plus. Neither were particulary great for larger boats or for trolling. They are really touchy. It seems once you get them setup right, they work alright, but the ones I used and friends were always breaking down. See if there is something near the fluxgate compass(what you are refering to as the gyro) that would be causing some sort of EMI (electromagnetic interference) when the boat makes its sudden turns. Anything electrical in close proxcimity to that compass will throw it off. Bilge pumps are notorious for it. For the record I use, and have installed 4 more, Simrad AP14. In my opinion, the best AP on the market in its price range.
  3. I just wanted to let everyone know that tomamrow, Tuesday August 29th, is the August 2006 General Membership meeting for the Detroit Area Steelheaders. Meetings are held at 7:30PM at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Chicago Rd(13 Mile Rd) between Van Dyke and Mound, in Warren Michigan across from the GM Tech Center. This months meeting will feature Larry Meyers, one of the states leading experts on teh Corrmorant situation and how it is effecting our fisheries. Larry has a great presentation and presents a ton of good information. We will also have a panel of our Grand Haven Charter Boat captains discussing whats happening and hot in that fishery just in time for our last tournament of the season. There will also be results of the Ludington Mens and Womens, and Manastee Tournaments. There will also be the regular monthly fishing reports and discussion, raffles, and general camaraderie. The club is a great way to meet other fisherman from the area. We have trolling tournaments and club outings throughout the year, and monthly meetings with guest speakers and "How-To" seminars. You DO NOT have to be a member to attend the meetings. Guests are always welcome. Hope to see some new faces in attendance. Come introduce yourself. Feel free to PM me or e-mail me at:[email protected] More information is available at: http://www.detroitsteelheaders.org Hope to see you there. Jason Adam
