  1. Priority1, I was wondering about the cutting board. We will see how long it takes my wife to find the cuting board on the back of the boat. Sean
  2. Any ideas on a transducer mounting plate for a fiberglass deep V. I will be switching electronics next year so I want to be able to remove and add transducers with out drilling all of the holes in my boat. If any one has set one up let me know how you like it. Thanks Sean
  3. Thanks guys and thanks for the PM. I called the dealer today and he said they have a new model that is due to come out soon. Thanks Sean
  4. Does any one use the TR-1 Gold for theier Kicker motor, and if so how do you like it. I have outboard for kicker and big motor, they are conected with ez steer but cant be if TR-1 is connected. So can you have the ez steer connection still on and connect TR-1? And if you are using TR-1 and have to steer the boat am I correct that the only way you can do that is with the remote? I am open to other options for an auto pilot but I do like the fact you can controle the throtle from the remote with the TR-1. Thanks for your help Sean
  5. Frank I havent had any trouble with the braid getting frayed. I could see though if your guides did get tore up you could have a problem. I checked my 4 wire line rigs last night I couldnt find any problems with the guides. I have two rigs with 1000ft and no backing and two 500ft rigs wth backing. I also dont get into the backing that often so im shure that prevents problems, if I was going to have any. The only thing I would realy recomend is use a good reel with a good drag.
  6. With the albright knot make the loop with the wire. I use 500ft of wire I often have out 300 to 330ft when I run divers at around 100ft. If you dont need to fish that deep you should be ok, but if you get a mess in the wire you might lose 100ft and have to start over.
  7. I would definitely use backing if you are only using 300ft of wire. I would use at least 500 ft of wire and enough backing to fill the reel with the wire. I have used the albright knot with wire connected to power pro or dacron. I also use rods with twilli tips and have had no problems.
  8. Good question I have been changing it yearly, but I don't know if I need to. I started using power pro also and it looks like its new when you take the lead off. I am going to try leaving some on from last year.
  9. You have to take off the coating at both end's. On the end that goes on your downrigger spool take 8ft of the cable burn off the coating, then use sand paper to clean it up. you will see a nut in the spool make sure the uncoated cable touches this, it will with the 8ft of cleaned off cable. Then at the probe end I clean off about a foot the same way. Make your connections, clip off the excess and your rubber tape should cover the exposed metal except the last 1/4 inch at the probe.
  10. If I use 27lb leadcore I use at least 50ft of floro and then a 12 to 20 lb 6ft floro leader. I use the power pro 30lb to 50lb for backing. I have had excellent hook up ratio and with all the sag or bow lead has in it I have had very few break offs. My catch rate went way up when I increased the leader length from 30ft to 50ft. Good Luck
  11. Same thing just red and black. I dont know if its just luck but I do get more lake trout with the black divers, I just get what ever is on sale and spray paint them black. The rest are kelly green. The weights are 12 and 15lb shark weights.
