Great report! How late did you fish till?

We were back to the dock by 8:00. Cleaned those fish up and the eggs that were in the females were real close to mature. I have got to believe there will be a number of high 20 pound fish caught this fall. Fish are definitely eating well in this area. This is my first outing out of New Barfalo this year and it was very enjoyable. No traffic what so ever, and a nice short taxi. Came through town and did not see one Michigan plate.??? St. Joe is home and with the temps climbing back up I need more perch, so will be hitting the perch next week.

fishing by 4:30pm Started in 65 foot Just South of Warren Dunes State Park.Trolled West not having a hit until 82 foot of water. finished 8 for 15, 7 fish on riggers 58-70 down in mostly 95 foot of water. Mag Monkey shine stinger and green dophin took all rigger hits. 1 fish on mag dipsy on 1 140 back, green fishcatcher and green fly. Fish were 14,11,10,10,9,9,9,7 pound kings. Surface temps 74-71. Fish were low in water column. had 3 doubles going 5 for 6 on the doubles. Great evening with 1-3 footers subsiding to 1 foot or less. Had a couple of poopers on that came unbuttoned. Perch guys were struggling....

Man, I just noticed your two previous reports from the 6th and 7th, Sounds like you are going to need to sharpen those fillet kinves after last week. Nice job!!!!

Fished 6:00 to 9:00. Ran 2 miles south out to 75 feet and went with the waves into 60 feet. One Laker on watermelon spoon on dipsy 130 back set on 3. One king on lemon ice on full lead. One king on green/white spin doctor with a green fly. One king on blue spin doctor with blue bubble fly on dipsy 80 back on 1. One king on orange/lime stinger on rigger 35 down. One steelhead on tin can with green fly on rigger 61 down

Nice mixed bag, what size dipsys did you have out? I was out saturday for some perching, 33 real nice fish, 6 of those were true Jumbos, "Jumbolaya's"

trolled for an hour or two after and picked up a nice steelhead 65 down in 75 foot of water with a Monkey SHine mag stinger. Same water as you were in.

Here goes, 94 West to Exit 16. Bridgman Exit. Turn left, or North on Red Arrow Hwy. Go about 1 mile to "The Light" Turn left. This is Lake St. Go about a mile until you hit the Ticket Booth. This is a city park. Beautiful Beach and very nice campground. Not sure of the Launch prices, I have not used this launch in quite some time, as my boat is too large to launch here. If you have a roller trailer you are styling. There is metal ramps going into the water. It is pretty deep on the end of the ramps. 3-4 foot. Once you get the boat off the trailer, pull it up to shore and park the truck. Remember if the wind picks up out of the west, to hustle back in. Can get kind of harry trying to load the boat. Waders are a must if the water is cold. But when the lake heats up you can put the boat in with out them. 1 mile from Cook Plant. 2 miles to Warren Dunes. If you are looking for a good place to camp in the summer and hope to do some perch fishing this is the place. I have some buddies who launch here all the time to salmon fish, strait out from Weko Beach. Good Fishing. And No Traffic.......Hope this helps

Fished St. Joe Saturday for perch and ended up a long afternoon with only twenty keepers. We sat on top of a small school and I would watch the perch come up to my crappie rig and turn away. I guess we weren't using the correct DNR registered minnows.

So Sunday, we decide to put in at New Buffalo to cover some new ground. We roll up to the guy to give him our $12 bucks and he says "Don't waste your money, theres no fish here." I though he was kidding. It was around eleven and he said had been out all morning and was coming in empty handed. He even stopped a guy who was retrieving his boat and asked while I was sitting there, still stunned and the guy looks at me and they only got three perch all day. So, we turned around and headed home.

That was a first.

Ihave an opinion about this. $12.00 bucks is rediculous for starters. If I had my choice I would launch at St. Joe and work my way south fishing. Most of the fishing out of New Buffalo has been to the North anyways. Both Big Fish and Perch. If you have an 18 foot boat or smaller Launch at Bridgman at Weko Beach. Perch Fishing is usually excellant there. You just have to watch the lake, big west winds can be tough on loading your boat since the ramp goes directly into the Lake. $12 Bucks, what a joke....

Well I just got word that one of The Local Charters slammed the Steelhead at the piers this morning. Water did turn over last night. Not so sure it will last with 90 degree temps and south winds though....Seems like Monday are Scamania days when you have to work!!!!

Launched at 5:20, came out of the pier heads looking for cold water. Did not see the temps that I was expecting. Heard there were some scams in there but we decided to forgo the goat rodeo at the pier heads and flew south. I have been having some luck between the Chalets and Cook over the past couple of weeks, so we set up in 53 foot of water with a Westerly troll. Lake was a pancake, but immediately started building out of the east. Set starboard rigger with a Monkey Shine Mag stinger at 40 and a Mixed Veggie fixed slider 9 foot above. The set out a 5 color on the same side and went to work on the other rigger. Rigger pops and we commence to dealing with an screamer. So I have 2 rods in the water and a very large king heading for the core. I have 12 pound p-line on the rigger rods so there would be no horsing on this fish. It hit the monkey shine at 40, and tore off 150 yards of line. We finally got him in 19 pound king. Largest fish of the year. So 30 minute ordeal and I have no baits in the water. Got all 9 rods in the water now and a Mag dipsy 79 back with a White fish catcher and a green fly starts screaming. Another very large fish. Then the port rigger pops with a freakin mixed veggie 55 down. 9 pound steehead in the boat, while were still battling the screamer on the dipsy. Finally get this fish in the boat. 21 pound king. WOW, never thought we would out do the 19 lb fish. All by 7:30 am. So I am think we are going to finally get some numbers of fish this year. Lake had built to about 3 footers by now. Never took another hit the rest of the day. Worked from 60-100 foot of water. I have taken a number of kings over 13 pounds this year with the 21 being the largest. But cant seem to put a program together for numbers. Last year all we could do is get 6-8 pound kings. Not complaining by any means but would like to stay busier.
