  1. Well, after a long hiatus (two weeks) from being able to fish, I was able to get out today with a few buddies of mine.

Got out and set up around 7:30 just east of 1 and 2. Fishing was slow to start for us, picking off one here and there every 20 minutes or so.

We started wondering a little bit from intended course, and sure enough started to find some fish. I noticed the graph was filling up around the 15' mark in the water, and got my lures in that ballpark. Sure enough, rods started popping off steadily. Punched our 3 man ticket by 11. had a few in the 16" range, but most were between 18-22". Nice healthy fish.

Color did not matter, but they seemed partial to confusion in a willow blade. Been by far one of my hottest blades of the year.

The water was great, traffic was heavy around 1/2, but overall it was an excellent day with great friends

Oh lastly fished 30 fow, going with 2oz inlines both 50-55 and 20-30' back respectively. Fish up higher seemed to be more aggressive and better size, but we took fish on bottom as well. One we got the program every rod was going off.

  2. Man i was really close to you today prolly another mile east did u see 3 guys in a duck boat, we hit a 3 man limit with 6 fish over 7 lbs, all on the fire tiger crawler harness dragging the bottom

I fished the evening, but really the entire night did not see a boat come close to me, it was very peaceful to say the least.

I noticed my bigger fish were coming deeper, I kept switching things up as all I caught for 20 minutes were shorties. I kept going deeper and deeper till I found some bigger fish.

I lost a nice one at the boat, maybe 4-5#'s but couldnt seal the deal netting it myself.

I did loose a IL board out there, has my name on it, number as well. If anyone see's it let me know, Id sure appreciate it

  3. dont want to sound like a sm#$t as#. but the way you descride your trip it sounds like you may have been using to many poles. i believe you are only allowed 2 rods per legal fisherperson at any time. just thinking outloud. if you were you might want to think about that next time. and dont get me wrong im not saying you were but it does sound that way. have a great season.

and by the way a nice limit of eyes. congrats are in order.

    sherman

3 lines per man. This was changed a little while back.

  4. Well guys have been out on the bay a few times now since becoming my own boat capt earlier this year. Finally pulled my first limit!

The fishing was smoking hot pulling in these fish in just under an hours time all while having 4 knock offs, numerous shorties and some sheepies. Was kinda ticked everyone who said they would fish today backed out. Should of had a lot more in the box today.

I do have to say, I was beginning to loose my bearings when all of my boards went back at once. But it was a hoot!

All fish came pulling meat, colors did not seem to matter, but hammered green took most of the keepers. Purple took all of my sheephead. East of the plug 19-22 FOW.

Most of the shorties came between 8-15' back of the board 1 oz inline,

Most keepers came 15-25' back of the board 1 oz and 1.5 oz. Same was true as most have said, if you saw the suspended marks on the graph, typically the flags were going down.

Overall a great day on the water, wind started picking up. Set up at 5:45, last line pulled around 6:40...

Go get em boys, they are around

  5. Well I am not new to the boating world, had a few river type boats, and of course duck rigs but this is my first, "get out there, anywhere type boats :D

I think it will be a great start for me, being 26, I am sure this is not my only boat i'll ever have. Lets hope she takes a few gators out of the water this summer..

Still trying to get her fully rigged, I have traxstech rails and bird trees on her with some rocket launchers as well.

The consoles sit far back, so transom room will be right, but I adjusted the configuration on the seats to get a lot more room in the back. So far I think its coming along nicely.

As I get it more rigged up, I will try to post some updated photos... As well as some with a few fish in it  But at least she is definitely not underpowered, topped her out around 50 the other day with a half tank and a buddy. Cant wait to get on the bay.

Still working on a name, But I am thinking "Bud-Wise-Errrr" seeing as my last name is wise... give me a call on the water sometime
