You didn't say how big your boat is.. I went and looked at grindstone a few weeks ago and wouldn't recommend going out there. The locals have marked the channel with some white jugs but it isn't marked very good and towards the end of the channel there are some very large rocks on either side. You might be able to pull it off on a dead calm day but any wind would likely push you out of the channel IMO.. I would play it safe and use Port Austin. We stayed in Port Austin and they really fixed the place up. The marina staff was very helpful and was always busy cleaning, painting etc.
Fathers day weekend we picked up one walleye in 30fow on a clown deep diving husky jerk. A few kings out in 80 fow and lakers on the bottom in 100-130 fow. We also picked up a bonus walleye over 80 fow on a 150 copper. I might try to get up there on Saturday give the walleye a try.. If the water isn't warm enough at Port Austin you might have to run West towards Sand Point until you start marking fish. Sounds like the bay is loaded right now.

Like new. Used three times. Gonna need to move up to the 48" bags. These come with handy canvas storage pouches and fold up nice. These are made from a heavy duty vinyl coated material that is very thick and sturdy. They also have metal rings where the ropes attach to prevent chafing. $100 shipped to your door. These sell for $160 on John Kings website.

Item is listed on eBay with no reserve. High bid wins. These can be hard to find so I thought I would throw this out there.

Wow dude. Pretty harsh words.. Come fish Lake Huron for a week and I bet you won't talk like that for long. You learn real quick to appreciate a mixed bag of fish.
-
Sounds like you are on the right track..
Keep in mind though that most of the info out there states that a gel coat will not bond to epoxy as well as it does to polyester resin. You may be able to get away with it but your gel coat may end up popping out of the repair.
I went through this last year by filling many holes in my boat. Every hole in the fiberglass was cleaned, drilled to the next size, filled with west system epoxy and re-drilled to prevent water from getting in and rotting my balsa core.
For the holes that I gel coated over I used polyester resin (w/o wax) first to fill the hole (thicken it so that it doesn't run out of the hole w/ west sytem filler). Then put the gel coat over top.
Hope this helps

Well here we are two weeks later... I called yesterday and was told they are still waiting on parts to come back from anodizing and that it would be at least another week. I am not going to hold my breath. My riggers have custom swivel bases that will probably require an extra month. Maybe by deer season they will be done.
-
Any updates? I have three on order however mine have custom bases to match my existing scotty hole pattern and one of them has a 60" boom. Haven't hear a thing since I ordered in Feb/March.

I recently purchased a boat that came with a fish hawk X4 system.(approx 3 years old) I love the setup and the probe/transducer are still like new. The display on the other hand appeared to have been roughed up a bit by the previous owner. The clear plastic housing had some cracks in it and one side of the screen looked like someone pushed on it and left a mark. It was still in working order but not very appealing cosmetically.
I sent it in to fish hawk per the instructions on their website and sent them an email advising that it was on the way. They responded to my email right away and said that they would have it fixed up in no time. Their website states that there is a flat rate of $190 to repair the display or $299 for a brand new display.
I was really hoping that if they charged $190 that it would be refurbished to like new condition.. If not I would have rather just purchased a brand new display for the extra $100.
My wife and I left to go "up north" for a short vacation (5 days). When we returned I had a package at the front door from fish hawk. They replaced the cracked plastic housing and the screen and threw in a $15 foul weather cover all for $50 + shipping. There are still a few very small cracks on the back of the plastic housing around the scerew holes however for $50 I am very happy with the way it turned out.

I need 4 lead weights from 107mm walker deeper divers or Luhr Jensen size 001. These are the size just under the "magnum" size divers. Would also be interested in the plastic bottom pieces for the walker deeper diver only. Let me know what you have. Thanks, Matt

Awesome! Thanks for the help! I had a feeling someone would know on here.

Just bought the boat and found this cable that runs from under the dash to the stern. Unplugged on both ends. 2007 Cherokee 270 sport fish. I just want to make sure it isn't important before I take it out.

From the coast guard website..
Are there penalties for issuing a false distress call? Check it out:
6 years in prison
$250,000 criminal fine
$5,000 civil fine
Reimbursing the U.S. Coast Guard for the cost of performing the search

I don't know much about them but that boat looks pretty clean. It only has 144 hours. I would invest in a marine survey and make sure that you are with the surveyor for the entire process.
-
Trees are sold. Thank you
-
What does the base of the rigger measure without the swivel mount? I'm wondering if it could be used on other mfg swivel bases that are already on the boat?

Not sure what's next to be honest. It will likely be a few years from now. I will probably hit the boat shows and sea trial a few. I'm leaning toward diesels but I might be willing to try twin outboards for the speed and quiet operation.. We'll see
Dave Ash.. Not sure if he is a member of this site or not. He mentioned that he does read some of the fishing forums.
