  1. Saturday morning was definitely an adventure to say the least. The fog was as thick as I have seen it in a long time. We could barely see a boat length in front of us the whole morning. Make sure you sound your horn or blow a whistle every few minutes while in restricted visibility, it really helps.

Headed south very slowly which cost us some prime fishing time but the conditions demanded it. Set up in 120 fow and trolled on an east/west troll to 150. The fish started hitting immediately. We could not keep the riggers in the water. Had 2 ten pounders on the same rod. It was good thing they cooperated and did not zig while the other zagged. The rigger bite slowed a little allowing us to get the other rods down but it wasn’t long before we were back to having only one rod down after another flurry.

SOG 2.8 to 3 depending on troll

    At the bait 2.2

Early rigger bite was 120-130 down (several 4 year olds in the cold deep water) that slowed moved them up to 40-60 down

150 back on mag dipsey on 2 with small white blade w/ Oceana Rapture Fly

175 back with a mag dipsey on 2 with black flasher/white cracked ice tape w/ Duck Head fly

    All caught fish.

On Sunday I realized I did not have any fish in the freezer so we decided to try to get some for dinner. Went out at 1:45 p.m. with the family. It was beautiful out there and much cooler. Set up in 150 and decided to do a south troll. Same set up as Saturday but only ran the riggers, the 3 and 5 color and one dipsey. We had 5 kings in a little over 30 minutes with a throw back. The Steelie Stomper took 3 of the fish. The other two were on the riggers 60 and 65 down and were on the Happy Meal Moonshine and the other on the Blue Machine. We had more than we needed for dinner so we pulled lines and took a leisurely ride back to the heat at the dock.

    Good Luck,

  2. This is my first post .... hope it is helpful.

Left the dock at 6:00 a.m. and was a little worried the fish would be scattered after the various high winds we had the past few days. Ran out a little south of the pier to 140 fow. Beautiful day on the water. Trolled south and around the middle net and back inside it. It was 8:30 and not a bump. Once I cleared it on the north side headed NW. The fish started hitting. We had some doubles and a triple and a bunch of singles but only on a NW troll. Turned SE to go back through and nothing all day on that troll. Ended up in double digits with a few nice 4 year olds a few in between and a couple dinks that were a little water logged. All were kings.

    Best depth 120.

SOG 3.3 at the bait 2.5

    Best baits and rig

5 color – Blue Bubble Stinger went 3 times then the reel burned out – cost us a nice fish

150 copper – Wonder Bread Stinger went 1 time sort of… dink on for a while – too long

    10 color – Black Screw Ball – 1 time

15 color – Stingray Stinger – Green Monkey Puke – went 5 times

7 color – Stinger – Wonder Bread – 2 times – last one broke off and took the board with it to Davey Jone's Locker

Rigger 65 down Stingray Stinger – Green Glo Alewife – went 2 times

Rigger 50 down – Blue Mixed Veggies Stinger – went 1 time

Rigger 50 down – slider – Stinger Stingray size – Fruit Salad – 1 time

Rigger 60 down – Nitro (glow) Wonder Bread Stinger – 1 time

After we cleaned the fish, they were loaded with alewives. When we marked bait is when the fish hit but in a small area. The Stingray Stinger was the exact size of the alewives we took out of them.

Beware in 140 fow in the 11's, I am not sure if they are chub nets which are usually set much deeper or gill nets but they are clearly marked with two white buoys running parallel to shore a couple hundred yards apart.

    Good Luck,

    Capt. Drew
