Mega Byte Posted July 8 Posted July 8 This was a combination work trip and fun trip. I hadn't been fishing Memorial Day due to the Magic Bait Ball project and winds...just seemed windy this May. From the work side, the goal was to get some top side and underwater video. So that meant that when I normally would be swapping out lures or lines, I was messing with video stuff or trying to get a new downrigger installed. So the long lines obviously weren't working for me, but I never made time to swap them out. I ran 1 rigger with the Magic Bait Ball, 4 dipsies and 4 long lines. All 10 bites came on the rigger and dipsies. I'll have to play with that more. On the positive side, the new downrigger did get installed and I'll be able to utilize it on the next trip. I'll add some pictures in the comments. 3

SeaFoam Posted July 8 Posted July 8 Can you enlighten me on the project? Magic bait balls scented to attract salmon? If so, LIKE.
Mega Byte Posted July 8 Author Posted July 8 I'm trying to stay in my lane on this thread and keep it fishing report related, but I did want to note what I've used to help catch them. If you want to discuss the Magic Bait Ball, we can do it here:
zgrinder on Fin Warrior Posted July 8 Posted July 8 Super cool Mega Byte. So now I will come clean that I have a salt water rig on Fin Warrior that I started messing with perhaps 10 years back or maybe more and have deployed a half dozen times with a very short leader off one of the aft balls (Fin Warrior is west side rigged with 4 riggers), perhaps in a similar manner to the Magic Bait Ball and putting longer lines tipped with spoons just below and out to the side of this presentation. I have not dedicated enough time to this and I only ran the program mid-day when nothing else would get bit. There were a few trips that I was able to entice strikes mid-day when all baits typically shut down. Everytime I go down below in the cabin I see this rig and think man I really need to invest some more time on this. It takes a lot of coordination and care to get this in the water so it runs right - on a calm day. If fish are pounding lures, you don't want this in the water getting caught up with lines sporting active kings. If I get on this again with some commitment, would be happy to share my data.
