littleboat Posted May 30 Posted May 30 I hadn't plan on going out today, but looking at the bouy suggested that the 2ft forecast wasn't right. Launched at 7:30am fished until noon. 2/2 , a small king in 130fow of water, which I probably had dragged around for a hour. Second was a 11# king hiding in the shallows of 40ft from the surface. I bagged her in a 192 fow, on the same rigger also, down 40ft. Ball temp was 46.7, sog 2.6, west troll. Both fish caught with bloody nose mag. Fished from 100-210fow. Waves were flat to 3ft at time, but slow rollers. Rain never came. A little cool out there. Also lots of boats. No hits on divers or boards (170,230 250,300), or varied lengths leadcore or flashers. Riggers were varied down to 175fow. Sent from my SM-A156U1 using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App 5
slowboyspoon Posted May 30 Posted May 30 Nice! I'm going to try and head out of Holland sometime this weekend. Last weekend we found 3 kings up near Port sheldon in 150 - 160ft of water. 300 and 150 copper were the ticket. 1
SeaFoam Posted May 31 Posted May 31 Good work ,Ed. I didn’t do so well. My main engine serpentine belt broke as I left the harbor. Had to navigate back to my dock with the kicker motor, steering with autopilot only. Took me 6 attempts to get the boat back on the lift. Was kind of an adventure.
littleboat Posted May 31 Author Posted May 31 What a bad moment that must have been. But I'm glad you could steer with the autopilot and kicker. Good backup huh.Smart move.Sent from my SM-A156U1 using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App 1
FBD Posted May 31 Posted May 31 Traffic could have been Grand Haven tournament boats. At least they won’t be killing all the planters at the pier heads this year to get numbers. Fifth place on the AM side last year weighed fifteen fish for 29# over two days… 2
zgrinder on Fin Warrior Posted May 31 Posted May 31 Finally got Fin Warrior out for a shake down run. Starboard PPS shaft seal was spitting water on a plane but sealed up tight over time. I don't enjoy moving that fitting around while in the water. Everything else checked out fine. Took a bunch of copper, weighted steel and lead core long line depth measurements in the evening rain but didn't do any fishing. Soon as I tied up at the dock, the sun came out. Met up with Darrell from Smart Troll early in the day to discuss a charging problem I had with one of my probes. What a great guy. Got a new charging station and the problem is resolved. Love the equipment for running my dipseys. Hope to add to the fishing reports soon. Seafoam - great boatsmanship working the kicker to get back on the lift. One of your neighbors, Jim and Karen if I remember their names correctly, have the slip next to me this year. They were concerned the low water levels would be a problem getting in & out of their place on Lake Mac. 2
SeaFoam Posted May 31 Posted May 31 Glad you got the shakedown completed Fin Warrior. Jim and Karen have been good friends for years. Our kids all swam competitively together for many years! Get that boat out fishing. I need some good reports! Sent from my iPhone using Great Lakes Fisherman
