numberguy77 Posted April 28 Posted April 28 Did a short solo shakedown Sunday morning off of GH. Dragged my feet and left later due to being a wuss and not wanting to deal with the 36 degree temps. Waited for the sun to come up a little and fished from about 10-noon. A lot of boats out on a beautiful morning. I easily saw 30-35 within my view. I marked fish pretty much the whole time I was out and pretty much stuck to "the mud" or just outside it. Ran a 5 color with a spoon, dipsy with a small SD and a fly, and a rigger with a spoon and a free slider. Changed things up a few times and continued to stay in the mud as I was still marking fish even around noon. Right about noon on the dot, I managed to box a fiesty 12# female king in 40 fow with a brightly colored spoon 31' down on the rigger. That fish was wild! Spring kings. So, 1 for 1 for me. I did see three other nets go into the water, so, a few fish were being caught. Good luck out there this season. 5
littleboat Posted April 29 Posted April 29 Good shake down cruise. I'm with you. I hate to fish in a snowmobile suit. I enjoy fishing. But I don't want to go on a crusade.Nice catch. Sent from my SM-A156U1 using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App 1 1
Luke Tuccini Posted May 1 Posted May 1 First year in a marina. We chose Grand Haven. But most reports seem to be way better farther south? We've been catching a few here and there, but nothing write home about. The only fish we did catch was using a lure scent jel in a white squeeze bottle. Don't have brand, sorry, it's back in the boat. Amazon. No fish without jel?Orange/black thin fish, orange/yellow green spoons. 150' cop, 6 color, 35' - 45' fow south of harbor.Anybody else fishing Grand Haven, please, you're welcome to check in. Thanks.Sent from my SM-S918U using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
jdh Posted May 1 Posted May 1 Fish will almost certainly be in Grand Haven this weekend. They always start south and move north.
