lake trout from a lake huron pier??

Recommended Posts

Due to the government choking out lake Huron with hundreds of thousands of Lakers a year stocked into lake Huron and the government wiping out the remaining Chinook by doing so.. My question is.. Is it possible to catch a lake trout off a pier in lake Huron? I mean I know there closed sept 30th and I heard they arrive later in the year I have a piss load of ko wobblers and Cleo's I wanna put to use and am hoping its possible to catch a laker from a pier. I would hope so due to the millions in the lake one would think its simple lol.

Any idea if you can get some off the piers on lake Huron. Approximately what time of the year? And I'm sure ko wobblers and Cleo's wud be deadly. Pretty sure if the Lakers are there so are steelhead and browns so one would not be speficallt targeting them cuz there closed lol. Just want to catch one so bad. Haven't caught one since 1997. Just want to see one.

Ya I'll play around with retrieves from very slow retrieve to fast till I get a hit then copy that lol and I know ur spoon has to be very close to bottom so cast out close bail wait till line drops slack indicating on bottom then begin retrieve. What about spoons that are silver but have other color on it like a silver orange Cleo or silver chartreuse Cleo or green silver ko or blue silver Cleo. Or does it have to be solid silver

Yeah usually silver with anything seems to work. Gold will be hot some days too

Ya I was reading online spoons for steelhead a lot of anglers reccomend only three colors of casting spoons for steels and that's gold copper and silver. They say u should only carry those colors they swear by. So what you guys r saying about silver makes sense. Also read somewhere silver used to be hot on the great lakes when water was always gin clear but now years later with salmon dying out and zebra and quagga mussels filtering out the alewives food the plankton the water isnt as clear as before and therefore some reccomend gold or copper now a days too

Where I live here on lake Huron in my town at our harbour entrance we have these massive boulders you can walk out on to the lake shore. Its deep as hell right in front of ya casting off the boulders. I imagine each fall the Lakers along with bows will be cruising the boulders. Just problem is getting out to the water front off the boulders as there's big gaps in between the boulders lol feel like ur risking ur life getting out to them lol but I'm sure worth it lol.

I hope this worked I googled an image of our harbour entrance I was talking about taken from in the inner harbour. Those r the massive boulders ud have to walk out on to get to the light thing to cast into Huron. Probably very dangerous when rocks there r wet lol or from waves crashing over but calm days if u don't slip thru the rocks I'm sure wud be dynamite off there in fall. Deep as hell in front of those rocks. When salmon r in I stand in that orange section and cast over the wall towards Huron up the entrance lol or cast into the inner harbour both standing on that platform where orange is lol I've always wanted to get right on Huron at the lighted thing but the huge boulders there walking on them just to get to lakes edge scares me lol big gaps between some just to get to light thing. Truly dangerous

I like to use invis x. They come in filler spools. Usually I use 4lb. I've landed salmon up river on 4lb test too (drag set of course not to tight lol) however if I'm gonna be chucking 3/4 oz spoons maybe I shud up it to 8lb test and being its still floro it'll be still invisible for me

holy shit! ya id never venture out there lol. i cant swim and ya i got shitty balance on narrow platforms id go in lol. i got a piss ton of those c3 #33s (and other colors) from lurepartsonline you told me about. cant wait for the fish to come in so i can use em lol. i made the mistake of ordering the WRONG split rings, ordered the cheap ass 4101s 25pk stainless steel. (non heavy duty) wrong size lol #4s lol. each time i put one on my spoons theres a gap in the split ring lmao. So i upsized to size 6 and 7 split rings and ordered the 2X heavys LOL also used #2 and #1 siwashes on em. u live and learn lol
