Starter out at 6 am in 110 fow in front of the project. Surface temp was 48 and we were not getting any marks. Turned straight east and trolled into 75 fow where the temp warmed to 51 on the surface. Instantly had a double on our riggers. 41 down on a moonshine uv wonderbread, the other rigger was at 71 and had a green moonshine flounder pounder uv. Both 6-8 pound kings. Next was a steelhead on a 3 core. Wasnt sure on the lure but it was yellow and blue with uv tape on it. Still working the 75 fow we hit two more steelies on that same 3 color core but those fish both spit the hook. Last fish was a king on a 5 core with a silver streak mini streak double orange crush. ended 4for 6. There looked to be some nets around this area. Saw two orange round boueys floating out there i am assuming are marking native nets. Pulled lines at 9:30 to go to work.

Nice catch Matt.

All the nets are abandoned, not marked properly and a private contractor is trying to pull them all. They got most of them but were still searching for the last couple. Round balls are not the required marking so hopefully, they got a sonar hit, threw out a ball to mark the spot and will be coming back to pull it.

I was told that it is the last net they have to retrieve that is marked but that does not mean there might not be pieces of net still around.Fishing still remains hot from south to north of Ludington

You guys can log on to "The Ludington Charterboat Association" website and click on NET ALERTS for info. on the progress of the net removals. It's going well and all should be gone soon if not already. Costly job and not fun, don't know who's paying for this, but it should be the Little River Band of Indians in Manistee.
