afternoon trip

Recommended Posts

You can catch em all day long. Generally morning and evening is when I get most of the fast and furious action but mid-day I found to be steady. Last few trips I have made have been 3 or 4 till dark and have got fish right as we were setting

lines. You have to be fishing to catch em!

Adam is quite right, at least around Ludington, the early and late in-shore bites have been mostly Herring meat rigs. As far as afternoon/middays, I always suggest offshore fishing, like 450-550 fow out deep if you have the boat/gas to do it safely. Upper 50' usually, look at your Fish Hawk for the thermal.

We went out of Muskegon also in a friends boat. Set lines about 5:30 before the 3rd line was in we hit a nice steelhead. Trolled for a bit after that with nothing til I put it on a South troll. Then we started picking at them. Ended up 5 for 9. Our best water was 215 fow. Took most hits 60 to 70 down. Black Church Revelator with a green fly and Dreamweaver Pete's Bait took all of the fish.
