Flyboy Posted May 13, 2011 Share Posted May 13, 2011 Ran 300' of copper down the chute for the first time two years ago. Puts at least 2 or more fish in the box than if I weren't running it. It does get pulled in if another rod goes, as fast as your arm allows, never had any issues. Even by pulling the rod every time another fish was on, it still managed multiple hook-ups for the short time it was in the water. Am definately glad that we did that. I like fishing by myself. I agree with the others about not fishing a chute core. in really rough days i have done it. just moved it to the side when needed, but that was on a 40' boat. tray19682005 Posted May 14, 2011 Share Posted May 14, 2011 I have a 7ft beam and run riggers out side with 4 ft booms and core down chute with great success but!!! it must be pulled if another pole goes off or you will spend the next 20 min untangeling a bird nest from hell! But it is my hottest setup but 75% of my fishing is in the fall and I fish the channel alot or outside pier heads so i dont have over 50ft out with so many other boats out.Like was mentioned before theres a time and place for it, but you still have to be carefull, but it can be very, very productive! They've gotten good at it and rarely tangle and take a lot of fish on them too. If they get a fish on the rigger or dipsey the core gets moved to an outside rod holder so it it out of the way. ChampionShip Posted May 16, 2011 Share Posted May 16, 2011 I don't see why you wouldn't put your long lines on boards.......I will flatline a jplug down the chute to keep it in the prop wash if steelhead are up high, but don't like a 10 clr or anything in the way for reasons already stated- fish can grab it at any time.
