jballer
Would this be a good reel for a copper setup using 45lb, or would it be to big and to heavy for what im looking for. Thanks for any feedback.
Adam Bomb
They work great!
Nailer
Do your self a favor and get the soft/super copper. The 340 should work good.
Pioneer
I assume the gt2 has a higher ratio then the then my old 340, that thing was a turtle!
JWheeler
Not sure if that's the one my buddy chad uses with some longer copper. It's a big reel, with faster retrieve and has good line capacity!
jballer
The 340 and 345 have a 3.3:1 gear ratio. This size of reel is new to me. Im just looking for a reel that I can pack on alot of copper. I was thinking 1 of these penns or a Okuma Cv55L. Im hoping I can get at least 400 ft of blood run 45lb copper on one of these reels. Pioneer
Go with Tuna's55L or a 553LS Clarion(53" a crank!). I love those new Clarions. Chris
SUPERTRAMP
I have the Okuma CV 55 and the Penn 345GT2 and both will pack on 300' of 45# copper with plenty of backing to get the job done. Haven't tried anything longer than 300' but I think the CV55 would handle another 100 to 150 if you went to less backer maybe only 150 yards of 30# Power pro. Just in time
I have 450 ft of 45lb morgans copper on Convector 55 reels. I had a couple large Penn reels but the retrival was too slow. I use 30lb Ande for backer and I put 100 yards on.
Paulywood
I plan on spooling up at least 1 copper rod this year and will be using one of the Okuma Clarions. I like the retrieve on those. I am thinking about getting Tuna Tom to upgrade a few of my 45's to get a better retrieve on my fullcores too. We'll have to see about the budget.
