Steelie getting off and throwing hooks back at me

Been there, done that. I wish that I had a video last sumer a guy on my boat lands a nice 8 lb salmon. As he is unhooking the fish he gets hooked and the next thing that happens is the fish the slider and the other spoon all go overboard. As the fish hits the water the line cuts on the side of the boat and all is lost.

Steelies are know for their ability to get off and they will.

Personally I don't like rods pointing high encouraging a fish to come to the surface out of nets reach. To me it's a big disadvantage bringing a fish up the chute with rods skyward. Most probably do it that way. Fish are made to swim so I like them beneath the surface until they see my ugly face and the net.

When and if I ever get my videos from Alaska transferred from vhs to my comp. i'll show you all what it looks like to take a 3/4 oz. pixie spoon to the chin and jugular.
