HOLLAND, Mich. (WOOD) - The fully-clothed body spotted by a beachwalker Tuesday north of the Holland State Park has been confirmed as Thomas Anzivino, 24 Hour News 8 learned Wednesday.

Anzivino is a 55-year-old who fell off his boat while fishing between Port Sheldon and Holland on Memorial Day weekend.

We all remember the story from this past spring. It was reported that he was trying to fill a bucket with water and got pulled over. (link to story)

Thomas fished with us in the first WMFL event this spring. A brief reminder how fragile we are.

Rest in peace Thomas.

R I P!

Mike is right, the great lakes claimed more lives this year than normal. Not only fishermen, but also beach goers. It makes me respect the lake even more, and I realize the inherint danger that is the lake. Good luck to all and be safe!

I was in that area the day after and had not heard the story until we got back to the dock and someone explained why there were diver out in 100fow. Very erie and sad. I had no idea that he fished in the WMFL. Small world. Its' nice to hear they were able to discover the body and bring closure to the family. Thank you for sharing the story Ken.

Sad story indeed.

My prayers go out to the family.

How many times do we talk about safety.

Tethers and kill switches.

Life jackets and survival gear and distress devices.

Float plans and notifications.

Fishing alone is dangerous and should not be taken lightly.

Play safe.

Sadder yet was that his daughter was on the boat with him.

She tried to rescue him, but failed.
