No Limit
I need some help, can someone tell me exactly what a "wire diver" is. From videos on line people who bring up fish are running dipsy's but not sure exactly what a wire diver is.
KJ pluggin
A wire diver is a dipsy diver (or similar product) run on a wire main line. Most guys use a 30# 7 strand braided stainless wire. Wire diver will dive faster and deeper than mono and superline divers. Wire divers also give off a unique signature as they go through the water that many guys believe helps draw in fish. Our wire divers were probably our hottest presentation this year, and they are a ton of fun to fight fish on. Hope this helps.

Nailer
Wire not braid. The pole should be a roller rod, but a normal pole with a twilie tip will work. This site may help.
Eyefull
I've got a few opinions on wire rods:D
soko44mag
Dont mean to hijack the thread , but could someone recommend a good wire rod to pair with my 9ft braid divers, Im looking to add some low divers for next season. "Low" divers go on the inside and "high" divers are on the outside further out. Thanks for any advice

ChampionShip
Dont mean to hijack the thread , but could someone recommend a good wire rod to pair with my 9ft braid divers, Im looking to add some low divers for next season. "Low" divers go on the inside and "high" divers are on the outside further out. Thanks for any adviceI like rollers, but that's just a personal preference. I also like to have similar rod actions for high and low divers, just different lengths. I have 9.5' Med action Shimano TDR's for high divers and both 8 and 8.5' Okuma rollers with Med action for wire. I do like the Talora guides in lieu of rollers that Eyeful also favors, they're just too pricey for me right now......If I have to choose I want my money tied up in better reels before better rods. One thing I learned form a friend was to tie a section of mono 1.5x the length of your wire diver rod at the end of the wire, then attach the diver to the mono. I use 30 or 50lb mono since I still don't want stretch- that's what the opti snubber is for behind the diver. The mono helps keep all your wire stored on the reel and wrapped tightly.....SIGNIFICANTLY reduces curling.***If the situation calls for Torpedo Divers, which it often does when Dipsy divers aren't firing, then I use either 8' or 10' med action rods with braid line and a 50' fluorocarbon leader.***
