Sunday Morning So Haven

Recommended Posts

Ok I got up at 4:00 am and checked the Marine forecast, didn't look at the date but saw SE to 15 knots and 1 to 3 on the waves so went over to the boat and waited for my crew to show up. The finally arrived @ 6:30 and I had bad news for them the wind was NW @ 20knots + and the lake was 3 to 5'. Everyone said lets go so we set lines in the basin and trolled out to 98 FOW. Waves were in excess of 6 ft there and I had 2 chummers on board, so we turned to go back in and another 1 got sick. Pulled lines with out a release or a tug. The MC2 got the skunkeroo. The 1 good thing is the water is starting to turn over only 64 degrees on the surface outside the channel, and was 66 in the channel. I only saw 2 other boats out on the lake and they followed me out a ways then never saw them again.

Hey Mike,

I was one of the 2 other boats to follow you out.

Had a crew of 4, all seasoned (no chummers)

We rode it out, and the lake laid down later in the morning.

I can say you didn't miss much, we ended up 3-4

1 steel, 2 small kings. Best water was 150-170

break down about 80-85 ft, strong current, tough

to keep a good speed at the ball.

Small Stinger size spoons took only hits, 2 on 300'

copper, 2 on Torpedo's, nothing on riggers couldn't

get them to go.

Tough conditions, but we will get better fishing

before season is done, keep after em.
