Onekama Labor Day Weekend

I hate it when the forecast is for rough seas and they are actually right. Here's a few shots of the piers.

So no chance of fishing Friday or Saturday, as it was just brutal out there. However, we were able to fish on Sunday. Still bumpy but it was manageable. Went straight out and dropped lines in 50FOW on a west troll. New meat rig (MOO MOO) and white paddle on dipsy #3 180 back was taking hits. Were 3/4, with 2 of those fish on MOO MOO. Put another Moo Moo on the port dipsy #3 280 back with a 8" puprle pearl spinnie. Last keeper fish on a rigger 71' down with a green spinne and green meat head. 6/8 for the day, 5 of the 6 came on moo moo. 80 -100 was best. 5 kings and a real nice coho to boot.

It was brutal up there both Friday and Saturday. When we fished it was rough, but not as bad as the two days prior. We made our way down to the beach with the kids Sunday eve, as the sun had finally poked out from behind the clouds and made for a nice evening. Wouldn't you know it, we get down there and the waves are gingerly washing up on shore. Looked to me nearshore to be 1-3'ers, but that's the way it's been this year, horrid on the weekends and decent during this week. We left Sunday about bed time for the kids to beat the holiday traffic, and from what a trustworthy source said they fished Monday morning for a little bit and were into shore as it was picking back up in a hurry.
