deck lighting for early AM and evening Salmon

Recommended Posts

Anyone have any suggestions for deck lighting? I have a 20 ft open bow Angler and would like to come up with a type of removeable battery powered light. Any ideas? I was thinking using a couple black/fluorescent lights, and then maybe mount a couple LED flood/work light sticks above my console?

Thanks

Troy

Troy, I plan on installing these in my cockpit. They are some of the best I have seen. I was thinking 4 of them below the gunnels should light the interior up perfect. I haven't done it yet this year due to not working. They aren't cheap but should last forever and don't draw much power. How's the boat rigging going? Some pictures would be nice:)

Ended up buying a new 115 outboard so fishing was delayed until about June 1st, Broke the motor in taking the wife out a few times and even caught a few eyes. Its nice to have faith in the motor! I have the rigging just about completed, Reinforceing my DR mounts this sunday and I will try and post some pics next week.

Looking at the Coastal spreader light I am wondering how I would mount that, considering I don't have Launchers or anything over my open bow console?

I was actually planning on using the underwater lights and mounting them inside the cockpit under the gunnels. That would light up the interior of the boat but keep the light below the waist so you don't get blinded or loose your night vision. If you wanted to use the spreader lights you could mount them on your bimini if you have one. I'm not real big on the lights mounted up high, they can be more of a hindrance than a help. If you mount lights it's better if they are below the gunnel or up above your head. If they are at eye level they will always be blinding you.

We went with some marine LED rope lighting from cabelas... I think 6 feet was like $15. We put them under the gunnels starting from the back of the boat forwards. Works like a charm. I did have to wire in a switch, but that wasn't too difficult. THey can be plugged into one another as well...
