Trolling direction

I know that fish typicaly swim or face with there head in the current, But wich way do they hit a lure or food from? comeing at them so you would be trolling with current or go against the current so the lure is comeing up from behind them?

I'm not a salmon and i don't claim to know everything about them but the videos that I have seen they like to chase there food before they strike? and the other nite when I was out we were trolling with a very strong south current and we had a steady bite all nite....Hhmmmm....so now I'm not sure???

Salmon hit the preyfish tail first to cripple it. They may instantly whip their heads around so as to flip it & swallow it headfirst or they may come back around and grab it head first.

It's been long considered best to troll in to the current when possible.

Salmon like to injure their bait first. Hit the middle or the head of it, just like a pike. Going with current will give you your best speed but what you want to do is angle the current. Just like you would if you were bottom bouncing a river for steelhead. a 45 degree angle to the current is your best presentation. This takes some time to figure out but its well worth it.
