Rod Tip

My wife got me a new trolling combo for Valentine's day this year (yeah, she's great). I just spooled it up and noticed the little plastic inner ring was missing from the tip, so it is just a metal ring. Do you guys think it will be Ok for trolling if I'm using straight 20 Lb. monofilament? If not, do you have any suggestions on a fix? And like always, we lost the receipt, so no return. Here is a picture of what I'm talking about. Thanks for any advice!

I also recommend putting a new tip on. Very easy and inexpensive to do. You could also try checking with the manufacturer to see if they have replacement rings available.

I use super glue around every eyelet on every rod to help keep them from falling out.

Had the same problem last year, didn't realize the new rod had a cracked ring and when the mono payed out I saw a fuzzy string coming off my line. Lucky I reeled it in without a fish cause my mono became 2. Replacement tip and 5 min and I was good to go, buy a couple and bring some spares fishing with you. Fishsniffer knows a thing or 2 about broken tips on a fishing trip :)
