Moral delima

OK i have a problem i fished the dream weaver charity event this past weekend and even though my fishing was less than stellar i was lucky enough to win a very nice prize in the raffle. a 6 hour charter for four on the renown Salmon Slayer out of ludington(very nice indeed)

now my dilemma, i have been wanting very badly a Fish Hawk unit for our boat and i have considered offering the charter up in trade to anyone who might be interested in trading a good shape, good working fish hawk unit.

My only problem is that I'm not sure it is a ethical thing to do and i don't want to be out of line.

I know the fish hawk unit sells for about 550.00 new and the charter is a 480.00 value so i should be in the area anyway.

what do ya think guys is this right of me to do this or am i a jerk(please be kind)

Randy you won it it's yours use it how you want. Personally I would not trade a Fish Hawk for a boat ride but someone might. My Depth Raider is over 4 years old and I would not trade it for a charter trip. Not that the charter trip is not worth the money but that I can fish all I want from my own boat.

personaly i would go on the trip you will never get a chance to fish with dave for free again and i think that you learn things that you dont all ready know i know the fish hawk went out for us for 2 months while fishing( no thanks to the great severices at fish hawk) and we still caught fish.

When you own your own boat, comparing a charter trip to a temp prob is like comparing apples to oranges. Taking the trip would be a good opportunity to learn something new. However, you I could easily see where you would gain more more out of the FH.

What was the other prize that you won?

My post is not to judge you at all. Seems to me, it's yours to do with as you wish.

Here's the way I view something like this. I can buy a charter. I can buy a fish hawk. I can't buy luck. So with this in mind, I have never sold anything I have won. There is nothing wrong in doing so, but I personally just don't feel right about it. The only time I would consider it is if I really needed the income.

ive seen several times wether its a bowling, golf, fishing, ducks unlimited...all banquets....guys win things and sell them before they leave the place....why not....many times someone has won something ive wanted....sometimes i ask if they will sell it...good way to save cash for one guy and earn some for the other....its yours...i dont see why you would feel bad...its not like you bid on that prize....some things there i wanted to win some i didnt have a use for...youre ticket money went to a good cause...feel good about that and dont feel bad about trying to barter it

My post was about my personal opinion only.

Again, you are free to do with it as you wish. You will not be judged for it, by me.

Something else may hold more value to you. These days fishing knowledge can be found everywhere. Dan Keating and others hold seminars and also sell dvds.

If you find a reasonable exchange then go for it!

A little food for thought. When sponsers donate prizes they don't like the idea of someone selling what they win. I know Big Jon stipulated the last couple years(can't speak for this year) that the down riggers were not to be sold for more than I beleive dealers cost. Even the Summer Fun tourneyment that beave had the sponsers didn't want to see their prizes being sold. The last thing you want to do is piss off the sponsers because with out them we would not have a tourneyment.
