AuGres Walleye 6-26-09

Recommended Posts

Brad, and Gary K. fished with me out of AuGres. The one foot forecast waves turned into 3s with an occasional 4. We picked up most of a 3 man limit going with the waves and the rest going against them. 33-35 FOW, bouncers and meat. Purple, Pink, red, and chartreuse will gitter done. Speed was about 1.5 MPH.:)

Nice job as usual. I have a quick question...what style of blades do you normally use? Thanks

I have been using #4 or 5 Colorado blades for years. I recently started using some smile blades, with success. One drawback with the smiles is, they spin faster and sometimes twist the harness.:) I have been running a mix. Another drawback of the smiles, is you have to cut the line to change them.

Good job Frank we ended up with 15, 11 keepers and 4 throwbacks and a bunch of misses. I sure wasn't expecting it to be that rough yesterday. We had our best luck 30-35 fow with purple and hammered chrome blades. It started slow for us and I swear it looked like the boats stretched from Pt Lookout to Pt AuGres, man there were a bunch of boats out yesterday I can't image what today looks like.

Yeah that was me I saw you in your usual spot then you made a move and i tried to call you later and you were going in.

Tom

Tom, When we made the move, we were already filled. I was looking for (Hopitee) in a blue and white Crestliner. I wish we could have stayed closer to the point. I could handle the boat going into the waves, but if I was @ the helm I wasn't able to do what was needed @ the back. We went with the flow most of the time, because of conditions. It takes a decent helmsman to pull 9 lines going into 3 footers. Anticipation is the key. Some can do it, and some never can.

I know what you mean it seemed like it was laying down so I decided to head into the waves and it was tough and really hard when we got a triple on and the two boys were sleeping in the cuddy. That left my buddy to get the rods and drive the boat into the wind, it wasn't pretty my buddy had two rods and I think he was driving with one foot on the wheel and one on the floor.
