single hook

Recommended Posts

We Run single hooks on almost all our spoons, they hook and hold very very well, 99% of all spoons we run are Raiders, they come with the single hook. no more hooks tangled in the net, one very big plus

Our hook ups are about the same as a treble, the singles do seem to hold a bit better, they burey deeper into the fishes mouth. and my opinion is, unless a treble is deep in the fishes mouth it works against itself. I'd wouldn't tell anybody one style of hook is better than another, they both catch fish very well, SHARPNESS is the biggest cause of lost fish in my book, I can not think of any strait pointed hooks that are sharp enough to use out of the package, Treble or single. Filed sharp hooks will put more fish in the boat......

I use both, only downfall when using singles is they have a tendancy to hook smaller fish in the eye socket, thus no C & R.

Prefer siwash for staged kings with their hard mouths.

You are right on this point Skeiner. I have also brain hooked some shakers.

A fair percentage of released fish die anyway. They seldom come unbuttoned using the singles.
