  1. These were taken with the moultrie game spy 4.0. I've been very happy with this camera.
  2. Mike I have a moultrie game spy. it works great. They are cheap around $89-99. THe quality is good they are reliable. Downfalls no IR, a little slow on the trigger but I've been very happy with them. I have two. Plus you can get two of them for the price of many others. I'll try to post some pics
  3. Wow. That's amazing. An excellent example of how training can save the lives of many.
  4. guys thanks for the info. My friend was looking at heading out to N.Y. to check out a boat. Turns out it was a scam but I appreciate the input.
  5. When I grill I often add fresh squezzed lemon and/or lime on before or during the marinade. I think the citric acid helps loosen/leech some of the fatty oils that can make salmon a little strong for some tastes. It really mellows it out and gives it a zesty kick. My father in law is doesn't like salmon but he couldn't get enough. I use it with italian dressing and with a little evo and dill.
  6. That's sweet. Love the Tiara's congrats.
  7. Would 300 hours be considered average on a volvo penta? Also anyone have any experience with these motors? My buddy is looking at a new pleasure boat.
  8. That's awesome. Is that a split brow tine?
  9. Nice work Ken. I got skunked Friday night but managed one Saturday morning. Weird weekend of fishing.
  10. I don't think so someone suggested the sending unit.
  11. kris I'll be out tonigght and tomorrow morning. the fishing has been pretty good for up there. mostly dipsies and I hear leadcore. flashers and flies mostly some type of green. good luck
  12. This is great I really have enjoyed this discussion. Let me ask this what about when you hook up. If you troll for awhile after that with nothing will you head back to that spot with the thought that salmon school together??? JIM - depth charges you don't know how many times I've thought along those lines. Ken - I don't think I will be around then. I will keep you up todate on current reports if I get out before that.
  13. First a story: I got out late thursday night to fish. My wife was driving while I set lines. I knew a buddy of mine would also be out. After getting everything set I called him on my cell phone. He was complaining about the lack of action when I looked on my graph. I saw a very solid fish show up about 15 ft off the bottom. I don't usually do this but I told him hey I just marked a big fish it should be on in about a minute or so. He started talking smack and told me yeah right and then hung up. Not a minute later there goes the drag screaming After pulling the rod and handing it to my wife I had to call him back....ring ring. "FISH ON BABY!" click. I try to be humble but that was just too perfect. Anyway here is my question. I have found one spot wher I consistently been marking fish. Good size arcs just off the bottom and some stacked up. I have not had much luck in these spots. I have fished in another area that is known for good fishing not marked much and have hooked up several times...Problem is I feel like I should be spending some time on the marked fish trying to figure out the puzzle. When you mark a nice pod of fish or even one or two do you spend time trolling back over them and changing the presentation or do you continue your troll in a direction and area you think are productive?? Thanks.
  14. I haven't thought of securing the net to the handle to avoid it from blowing back. Thanks for the tip.
  15. Thanks fellas. Great replies I realize three things here. I like the idea of using a little more power to keep the fish in line. I usually slow way down. I really like the tip about moving the DRto 90. I have the swivel bases for this. I thought my net was big enough (don't we all) but in retrospect I think I need to add an extension/get a bigger net. Any thougths on extensions?
  16. I fish from a small boat so this may be a little different than some of you. How many of you clear lines at least on one side when you have a nice fish on? Maybe just the dipsies on a side?? It seems inevitable that the only tangles I seem to generate is when a fish crosses things up. I'm toyin with the idea of clearing a whole side but I know that may cause us to miss a few fish following the hooked salmon up. Any thoughts on this?
  17. Congrats. Sounds like youf found some real hawgs. Love the story. That always makes a great experience even better.
  18. When the cannon is working it's great but the connections are suspect at best. I have to work that out.
  19. Last year I think our best was 16# or so with most 8-10 this year a little better. We really lucked out on the weather. It kind of split the straits. We saw one bolt of lightening a long way off as we were pulling lines. Other than that it was great fishing weather.
  20. The electronic fule gauge on our grady white seems to be stuck on four bars. Found this out the unforunate way. Luckily we were on an inland lake and the trolling motor got us in. Any ideas if this is fixable or should just be replaced??
  21. I like the size of the fish this year. All have been over 12# Here's my wife with hers. Of course she caught the bigger one.
  22. Got out sunday evening. Went 2-3. Lost one of a double when the second fish got hung up on a deep dipsy. THought we had a triple for awhile. All fish came on dipsies 130-150 back 2.5 setting. Here are some pics.
  23. That's awesome great pics. Those look like some well fed salmon.
  24. Ahh yes the fabled orange and yellow funseeker species. Looks like trophies to me. I bet they liked that water temp.
  25. Got out late Thursday night marked fish northeast of the anchorages between 70-90 fow. Went 2-2 nice 10-12 lb fish. Friday morning (unnecesarily early it turns out.) I don't know who posted about good fishing starting at 4am but it didn't pan out for me. Started in same spot. Went 2-3. Had to cool down a deeply upset skipper (me) after a ramjet net man (also me) lost a fish. My buddy had what was probably our nicest fish so far, right to the boat so I made sure to smack him in the head with the net (the fish not my buddy) and knock him off. I made up for it by missing the next fish twice before netting it. I stink as a net man. Finished with one 12lber in the boat and let an 8 in. laker go after giving him a ride for a half-hour. Overall 4-5 for the two trips with 3 nice salmon but most important got the skunk out. Thanks to Yoda for the great intel. Hopefully the fishing is going to pick up along with the weather.
