  1. Played around in south haven today, all the boats went out to 200, I stayed in and fished the weather buoy AGAIN. It never puts me on limits, but ended up 5 for 6 with 3 steelhead and 3 small kings. Kept one steelhead and One king just to feed us, and let the rest swim. All fish caught on north troll in 65-70 fow, 1.8-2.2 and every single one came on a downrigger 70 down with a spin n glow behind a tin can 5 feet behind the ball.

  2. Tried again this evening  and left Holland and worked out to 135-140 and then picked up all gear turned around and set new spreads and headed back to channel and nothing until we hit 70 FOW and the screen was loaded with fish in the 40-50 water column but still no takers....just another nice sunset and nice night with friends who begged to go out......will try Saturday Morning once again...night bite isn't happening as of late

Do you have a ship to shore radio? If so, I'll give you a shout if we're finding fish.

  3. Haha I've never seen a dipsy come out of the water. Hopefully when we go we'll have the freedom to run the midline, and channel if we need to. I'd imagine there's less boating activity since we're past Labor Day, but with the weather being as nice as it is, I'm sure there'll be enough traffic to keep me from running as many lines as I'd like.

  4. 2 matures in the mudline just outside the pierheads in holland this AM.  Ran plugs from an hour before sunset til 9am anf got no takers - turned out they wanted SpinDocters instead b/c switched to those and took one on each of our last two passes - dark males

An hour before sunset or sunrise? We'll probably only fish for 4-5 hrs, but thank you for the tip. What were you running behind your spin doctors? Thanks again

  5. Next time maybe start dead center in the back of the boat, and as you let it out, watch to make sure it's going the right way. A friend of mine was certain he was setting his dipsys correct and the first time I "checked his work" he had them adjusted incorrectly, and was setting the wrong one off the wrong side.

  6. Anyone getting on any decent numbers? Taking my dad, and grandpa out this weekend, and this may be our last trip with the 3 of us, so I'd like it to be a memorable one. Not afraid to get off shore 15 miles if that's where the fish are, just hoping for some guidance from you guys that are able to get out a little more. Thanks in advance guys.

  7. Anyone going to be fishing south haven tomorrow morning? I'm going out with a few friends, and looking for anyone who might be out there. I'd be willing to share what we're catching them on, and where, and hopefully receive the same information in return. I'll be on channel 72, offshore Account is the boat name. Let me know if you're interested.
