  1. Fished 110 to 160 fow basically out of Mona lake. Hits came on mixed veggie on rigger down 71 laker. Other on 11 color with moonshine happy meal, but green with uv tape. Sorry don’t know what it’s called. Green ladderback with uv tape. 4 lb king.
Both hits were 140-145 fow. The one I missed was low diver set at 1 out 125 on braid with 12 in spindoctor white with mirage fly. Just didn’t get to quick enough.

    Thanks

Nice report. I think the spoon is a Shelly snack. Great color.

  2. 1st trip to Holland. Launched at the DNR launch on the NW end of the lake. You need boots to get to the dock.

We get launched about 6:20 and I quickly realized I left the net at home. I have no idea why I took it out of the boat. I usually don't do that.

We motored out, but had some boat issues and couldn't get it up on plane. We slow walked it out to the big lake. Lots of boats right out front so we set up early in 35 FOW on a NW troll. Picked up a 14# king in 48 FOW just before putting a board on a 200 Cu with a blue/green Captain Chuck's custom spoon (mag size).

We decided to keep heading west. To make a long story short, here's that got hit:

105 FOW. W. Green Jeans RV. 10# laker 300 Cu
112 FOW. N. 8" silver/green paddle and green fly. Braid slide diver w/ring out 157' on 3 setting.
120 FOW. W. NBK mag spoon. 10# king. Braid slide diver w/ring out 150' on 3 setting.
130 FOW. N. Stinky White Leroy paddle & meat. 19# king. Mag dipsy diver on wire out 130' on a 1.5 setting.
154 FOW. W. Dancing Anchovy spoon. 250 Cu. (Missed it.)
160 FOW. NW. Kevin's Girlfriend Spin doctor meat rig. 10# king. Rigger down 54'.
160 FOW. NW. Big silver pro-troll paddle and double aqua Howie fly. 8# king. (Double header.) This fish came up from 100' deep to investigate. I dropped the cannonball and it hit before it fell 8 feet.
130 FOW. E. Stinky White Leroy paddle & meat. (Miss - off before we could grab the rod.) Mag dipsy diver on wire out 173' on a 1.5 setting.
117 FOW. N. Kevin's Girlfriend Spin doctor meat rig. 20# king. Rigger down 54'.

Every fish that made it to the back of the boat we got in. We took our time and tired them out. I got on the swim platform and as we brought them up to the boat, I use the fish Grabber to hook them under the gills and swing them into the boat through the tuna door that leads to the swim platform. Enjoy the pics:

This was a fun trip. I got to take my brother, his pastor and son out.

We made it back in, and got the prop issue fixed for $23. I'll be back out tomorrow morning.

  3. Sorry for the late report. Went 6-8 out of Muskegon yesterday morning. 130-180 fow south of harbor.

White blank flashers with green or uv tape. Oceana and no see um type flies took all the hits. Except for a 15# laker that hit a stingray jordo spoon on a slider. Nothing on meat.

High divers back 170 took 3 hits

Low divers back 140-150 took 3 hits

    250 Cu took other two.

Slow speeds 1.9-2.2 at the ball

  6. Planning to head offshore tomorrow as the weather forecast is really nice.  Will probably drop in at about 250+/- fow.  Might go deeper.  If anyone is also going to be out there, let me know.  Or give me a shout on the radio - Channel 68, boat name King Possible.

    Supposed to be flat.

I’m going out of Muskegon tomorrow. I’ll probably run out deep too. Get away from the crowds. Good luck.

  7. Went 3-3 last night. Set lines in 140 fow at 5:00 and trolled northwest to 200. Turned south and trolled for awhile with no bites. Took the first bite in 165’ on a low diver out 135’ on 2 with white crush green dot spindoctor and proctologist fly, 15# king. Second hit came a little later in 135 fow on a rigger down 60 with a glow wonderbread plug. 10# laker (I know weird right). The last bite was shortly after on a high diver back 190 on 3. Chartreuse crush glow spindoctor with pickle kisser fly. 12# king. Pulled lines at about 9:00.

  8. Took a buddy and my son out of Muskegon on Saturday AM. Started West in 80fow - water was 68 50-60 down and no fish, few marks...pushed out to 100+ on a N/NW troll out to 130fow. Didn't hit good water (48-55degrees 65 down) until we got in 110 and we were NW of the mouth. Started marking a few fish but it was already 9am... went 1 for 1 on a rigger 70 down, 11# king... crabface spoon. Had to call it quits around 930.

    Now to the beef...

Took a 150 heading back to the mouth of the fingers and ran across at least 8 and perhaps 10 sets of nets within a few hundred feed of the route bearing (320 bearing if you are heading from the mouth towards the nets). Red flags, black flags, orange flags and even a set of balloons on one set. The deepest net we saw was around 103fow.

Here were a few coordinates I popped on my way back... didn't mark them all but a 320 NW heading would run you into almost all of the ones we saw Saturday.

    N43 15.908' W086 24.871' - 76fow
    N43 15.111' W086 23.728' - 66fow

Sorry for the late post, just didn't have time to share and good wi-fi.

Hope this saves someone some gear! Last year I came within 10yards of running into a net .... popped the boat out of gear...slammed into reverse and reeled like hell to get all the gear up and out of the way. I was fortunate!

I can handle a set of nets or two, but seriously, 8+ sets out in this area!?! Then to mark one set with frickin' balloons! clear.png&key=b1bdaae34297a729344919f16cf9073477d281cb754a3f40266319aaac242b86clear.png&key=b1bdaae34297a729344919f16cf9073477d281cb754a3f40266319aaac242b86

    Good luck out there!

Thanks for the report. I lost some stuff a couple weeks ago. The nets are getting almost impossible to keep track of. You navigate around one just to spot another. And the markers are not nearly big enough. You spend more time with the binoculars looking for the markers than fishing. And as was in my case by the time we saw them it was too late. Something has to change. Either mark them better or move them to a less popular area. Thanks again for the report.

  9. Went 3-4 on kings last night. 90-100 fow best.

    2.3 at the ball.

1-1 Downrigger 76’ down. Blue balls big weenie meat rig. 14# king

1-1 mag dipsey on 2 135’ back. Green dot white crush spinny with proctologist fly. 20# king.

1-1 300’ copper. Crome magatron with arch angel diabolical meat rig. 15# king.

0-1 250 copper. RGV chin music with salmon candy mercy uv fly.

Got into the nets out from Duck lake and lost the 250 copper and a 10c leadcore. Other than that a fun trip. IMG_4656.JPGIMG_4654.JPGIMG_4651.JPGIMG_4658.JPG

  10. 1 for 3 with 2 of us on the boat - me and a newbie - fog was thick so we motored out slowly to about 80 FOW - started just north of port and set up heading south - good marks, good bait, good temps - surface was 64 and 43 deg on the bottom.
Had the 300 CU go with a green mag flounder pounder - fish was a mature and fought hard for 3-4 minutes and came off - then 10 minutes later - the 200 CU rips - and this fish was MUCH bigger - never gave an inch or put the brakes on - he turned and headed north and never looked back - he hit a reel that didn't have as much backing on it and I had to muscle him - but he broke off - BIG KING #2 LOST
Then - the braided dipsy out 150 on 2.5 with green SD and fly ripped - this was a smaller fish but boated him after a few minutes - 15# king....
    Fog lifted about 11 am
Very glad to see some kings show up - heading out this weekend and next week!

I’ll be out there too. Good luck!!
