  1. Ran north a few miles and set up in 125FOW with LOTS of marks right at the thermocline. Went 8/10 with 6 Lakers and 2 steelhead all of which had stomachs full of alewives. No kings?!!?! A wire diver with blue bubble spinny and blue bubble fly took 7/8 lakers back 120-140. High divers and short cores with spoons took the steel. Those kings can come back anytime now...

  2. Thought I'd break the JUNE radio silence......

Did a hot lap out to 130FOW and back with my youngest boy Monday evening. We hit a nice steelhead on a west troll (Mixed Veggy, 45' down, 120FOW), made the turn East and hit a laker (chrome flasher/ Oceana UV Laser fly, wire slide diver #2 setting, 200' back,105FOW).  First trip of the year without a salmon. Those kings can make their way over from Wisconsin any time now.

  3. NO issues here with Slide Divers, i run a hi and lo using wire and braid. 30# braid on the hi and a 25' lead of 50# braid on the lo to my wire. I do use the surgical tubing not the spring provided in the accessory kit.

Those babies are NOT cheap hopefully you find the root cause soon!

  4. Solo trip yesterday in the fog, put lines down at 6pm in 140FOW on an West troll. Took my first king right away, continued to work out to 160FOW when I hit a small band of bait fish. It was easy from there. Limited out with 4 Kings/ 1 Coho, 3 kings came unbuttoned and one broke off. Magnum spoons took all the fish. This king fishing is unreal! I can't wait for the end of July/ early August. Better get the 30lb mono out boys.......

  5. Decided to head off shore yesterday afternoon out of GH starting in 220FOW on a West troll. I didn't take my first hit until 160 FOW, by the time I hit 140 FOW I had my one man limit of coho. Hottest bait was a chrome paddle and aqua fly down 80' on the rigger taking 4/5.

Good luck out there guys. I think the action is about to pick up! If the water temp would just creep up a few more degrees.

  6. GH - 8/20 AM

4/5 this morning on my first solo trip out of my new to me boat.

    3 Coho (#6-9)

    1 #10 King

    175FOW

    80-110' down

Blue seemed to be what they where after. Flasher/ fly and spoons.

I was hopeful to see some more 4yr olds this morning. What are your thoughts of this year's run? With the warm water and low flow rates from the Grand push the run back a few more weeks? When do you predict we'll see some staging in numbers out of GH?

    Thanks and good luck!

  7. Big Weenie seems to be the brand of choice for many meat anglers. Thanks for the info. one more thing though. Do you ever lengthen the lead from the last teaser to the meat head? I have been advised it should be slightly longer than the teaser-to-teaser length.

  8. Meat Rigs?

Meat rigs? What's your favorite rig? Type of meat? Leader length? Teaser (tinsil/ squid)? Best attractors (flasher)?

New to the meat game and have had limited success just want to see what's working for others. I appreciate the advise!

  10. 9/14 today out of Whitehall with a strong start but bite seemed to slow after 9am. Best depth was 120-140FOW E/W troll 2.8 gps. Everything fired at one point or another from 5 color to a rigger at 88', no real pattern. Best bait was a 11" white paddle and homemade white fly (glow/ UV). Lots of 1-2yr old Kings with the occasional 3yr old. Have the 3-4yr old Kings moved North? Regardless another great trip. This was the first trip of the year we haven't limited out. Hopefully the fishing stays good. Anybody have any luck fishing the slicks out deep? Stealhead should start showing up in good numbers soon. Good luck to all and keep the reports coming!
