  1. Dropped lines at the peir heads in south haven at 6:45 this morning headed west until we hit 100ft then turned around and trolled back to 80ft very very slow saw one king caught off the peir and ourself had one release on a rigger with a green meat rig in 35fow thats it so we packed up and went to fish the mud in saugatuck i realized we were late for the morning bite but still trailered up there, didnt catch any fish there either... Talked to some other boats that fished out in 85-95fow in saugatuck and sounded like fishing was much better there in the morning.

  2. Started just before 7am in 65 feet on a sw troll. Had three quick fish, an 8 lb king on 200 copper with a green ace high plug, a steelhead on a high diver set back 90 with a j plug and a throw back laker on a purple spoon on a rigger set at 50. Also caught a big sheep head on a swr rigger with a yellow ace high plug set at 60.

Finally got those fish taken care of and got all of the lines down. Marked lots of fish out to 90 without taking another hit, worked back into 70 and then out to 110. Caught a 12 lb king on the same swr rig but had it down 100. Then caught a laker on wire diver with green flasher fly combo set back 150.

Worked back in to 90-80 and picked up 4 more kings on riggers down 70 and 80 and 300 copper, all with green or yellow plugs. They were 10-15 lbs.

Then we went perch fishing for a little bit. It was not fast and furious but we caught 20 jumbos in about 2 hours.

Took out 2 guys who had never been out before and they had a blast!!!

Were u guys north or south?

  3. 7 for 10. Fished 80-110 fow first fish was on a rigger down 65 with a blue SD and fly 5lb king, hit a little dry spell then that same rod went off and took a 12lb king 200c with an ace hi glo green ladder back plug took a steelhead then diver set on 2 back 140 took a 15lb king on a green meat rig shoot rigger down 75 with a chatruse back glo ace high fired twice and lost both fish diver set on 2 back 110 with a mirage meat rig took a rip and was gone 300c took a nice steelie with a blue jackle moonshine spoon and 200c took a 10lb king, fullcore with blue jeans spoon took a laker.

  4. 1 for 2

First was a steelhead on black death meat rig on a dipsey 40 back set on 3 in 45 fow right out front. Hooked up while setting up with only two lines out. Jumping behind the boat before the rod even fired.

Second hook up was a big steelhead on a rigger 35 down with a black and dark green sppon with silver latterback tape in the same 45fow after getting turned around and coming back thru. After multiple jumps and runs behind the boat she came unbuttoned .

Rolled back thru a few times with nothing then headed out to 80 fow regretting that decision.

Thats strange... Water hasnt turned fish should still be out deep too

  5. Coppers man 300 or 200 catches lots of fish also try using a 20lb flourocarbon leader on your dipseys instead of mono i have never broke a 20lb flouro leader unless it was human error also have your drag rather loose on divers because they do take violent strikes. Also you cant go wrong with meat rigs they catch lots of fish on divers or your 300 copper. For instance i fish out of a 17ft tracker and i run 2 riggers wire divers and braid divers on each side and 4 long lines, long lines and divers by far catch the most fish in my perspective but riggers still are something to look into, hope this helps and good luck!

  6. Saturday fished 95-120 fow north. Went 5 for 7 200c with watermelon spoon took a 12# king fullcore with blue jeans glo/uv spoon took 18# king rigger down 45 with green jeans spoon took 18# king 100c with bumble bee spoon took a laker and rigger down 65 took a laker with a white glo j plug.

Today was tuff for us at least, fished a hair north went 1 for 5, first bite came on fullcore with blue jeans glo/uv spoon next bite came on fullcore again while fighting that fish 200c with a wonder bread spoon fired lost that fish before the board was to the boat the fish on fullcore was a massive laker and lost him right at the boat, then 100c ripped and drug the board under causing us to loose that fish and finally boated a nice steelie on 100c with a bumble bee spoon.

  7. Lots of fish, 9 for 15ish? I took out a couple of first timers and my 7 year old son so I lost track of what caught fish and when. We set up in 90 feet around 630 am. Fished til just after 10. Worked from 95 to 115, direction did not seem to matter. We caught 5 nice kings, 2 steelhead and 2 lakers. Lost several nice kings at the back of the boat. Caught fish on divers set back 130 and 150 with big green paddles and flys, high diver with green j plug set back 100 also took a fish. 300 coppers with blue and green dolphins, 7 color with mixed veggie and riggers with green moonshine spoons set at 55 and 70 also took fish. Nothing on 200 copper and no bites on meat rigs.

We had great action from 730 to 830 with several doubles.

    Lots of boats out there.

Thanks for the report North or south?

  8. 9 for 13 today with a 6 rod spread... Pretty epic lol, fished 95 to 120 fow braid diver set on 2 back 110 with a life is good spin doctor and a 4th of july meat rig took 3 bites 2 of which we lost, braid diver set on 2 back 87 took a 12lb king with a mirage meat rig and white glow spin doctor, rigger down 65 with a white glow j plug took a 15lb king 200 copper took big kings/steelies as well cant remember what came on what after that but i was running fullcore 2 riggers as well as 200 copper and my divers.

  9. 2 for 5 and few rookie mistakes

Steelhead 1 on black death meat rig with a strip behind a green and silver hotspot 125 back going south set on 3 in 94fow

Steelhead 2 on green big weenie meat rig (not sure on exact color) with whole herring behind a green on green spin doctor going south 90 back on 3 in 95fow

    Here's the bad.

Big rip on green dolphin meat back 125 on 3 going north no one home 100fow

Big rip on black death meat back 140 on 3 going north . 97 fow Ajusted Reset took another big rip on that dipsey in 97 fow never popped lost fish. I got it tuned to pop now.

Took a huge hit on 300c going north in 100 fow with proctologist fly behind blue/silver paddle down the shoot picked it up he ripped some line out and broke the copper about 50 feet from backing. Didn't check the drag that my fault. Stayed south of peir heads all evening .

All hits were taken early alow and steady and nothin in the last hour .

Pulled line after the sun dropped below the horison.

I noticed that too... That action is good until the sun starts to go down

  10. Went 5 for 7 fished 110-120 fow with 6 rods. 200 copper took a 20# king right off the bat before all our rods were out then once i got that back out our rigger down 65ft with a uv blue leapord spoon went off and took a 6lb steelie as soon as i reset that it took a 10lb laker then hit about an hour dry spell before 200 took another steelhead as i was fighting that fullcore went off but we lost that fish half way to the boat, caught one more steelie on fullcore after that then our braid diver set on 2 back 150ft took a massive rip and lost him about 5min into the fight. All in all a good night lots of steelhead around.

  12. True Grit great job; we fished same area yesterday morning only one in the boat. How many rods and where were you fishing; straight out, north, south?

    Thks,

    See below:

Just a short report today, 1 for 4 if you count 3 releases of meat rigs on the riggers.

Worked 80-150fow straight out and to about 5 miles north. In 142 fow trolling downhill, north, nice 13lb king hit the port dipsey on 3 out only 138', white Hoochie Mama w/green fly. Capt John King Black mamba w/meat rig twice and Green Mamba w/meat rig once tripped w/no one home. These were short hits because had dual rubber bands on.

Set lines around 8 n fished until 2, nice lazy 1-3s ended up w/nice somewhat choppy 1-3s. Got my teacher mate out finally before he heads back to school in a few weeks.

Had big problem with boat trailer, remembered that I forgot to turn off batteries, so we stopped in Bangor. Both wheels were smoking due to locked surge brakes. As luck would have it, Lord watching over us, Bangor Fire Dept pickup truck was right behind us. We drove to their station a few blocks away, they jacked up my trailer n I adjusted the brakes to loosen everything. Since grease got hot and I wanted to add some, they went next door to a mechanic n found me a grease gun. Great guys that I will thank with a personal letter. Looks like possibly the surge head up front may have stuck. Not sure what happened but will check all out tomorrow. Drove home doing 55 w/my flashers on for safety.
