  1. I cannot tell you exactly how mine is set up, but I have a proline with two large in floor fish boxes. They are both connected to a macerator pump mounted in front of the engine in the bilge. This slowly pumps down all the nasty fish slime and wash water to a side discharge with I think a check ball. Kinda like a scupper drain. I have looked into this pump cost and they are not cheep. Mine boat is a 1995 and the pump is still a working ariginal. I will replace the hoses when I get the chance to thourgh Yours may have had one and then it was not replaced if it went bad.

Thank you Eco for the reply.

I think i am going to change around the drain houses first to see if i can get a better flow. IF this does not work, i am going to install the Fish Box Evacuator pump from Jabsco.

I like the flexibility of mounting and I'm concerned about the macarator pump reliability.

  2. Good Afternoon,

I plan to start fishing walleye and salmon tournaments out of Saginaw Bay and Frankfort/Manistee using our company sponsored boat. Our company has nothing to do with fishing, just the ownership likes to fish.

My question is about Pro vs Amateur. How is this defined?

I'm not a charter captian, i have never been a second mate.

Now our boat is company owned (owner of company i work for) and most equipment is also paid for by the company. Not all as i have a lot of my own walleye fishing gear but the salmon gear was all bought by the company.

Does financial backing have anything to do with Pro vs Amateur definition? If we put the name of our Plastics company on the side of the boat or in the name, does that make a difference?

Thank you for the feedback. I just want to make sure i follow all rules and cause no issues. In my opinion, I am an amateur as it relates to fishing the great lakes, but that is my view.

  3. We recently purchased a 1999 Baha Cruisers Weekender 313 and looking for advice on the fish wells. I noticed the fish and bait wells are dumping into the bottom of the boat and being bilged out. There is a hose laying in the bottom that goes to a thru hull port. I tried it but the angle is not good enough to drain well.

Any owners out there do something creative? I do not like the idea of stinking up the bottom of the boat and working the bilge.

I'm also looking for a boat manual if any baha owners might have one. I have the one for the sea max engines.

  5. Thank you all for the input. We closed on the boat a few weeks ago. Currently having loadmaster in port Clinton build us a trailer. Also met Jeff from traxtech at the GR show and looks like we will out fit the boat with all of their gear.

  6. Hello

This year we will have our boat in Linwood and plan to do a lot of trolling for walleye!

Our plan is to also get the little kids out a bunch as well to get them off the video games! They loose focus quick when trolling so I am hoping to do some fishing with rod in hand. I was wonder if I could get some advice. My first though would be to drift (31' boat) with harness, jigs or Erie deries. I also would like to do perch but this is something I have zero experience with. I'm not looking for any secret spots, but gear and where to look.

Would it make sense to hire a guide to help us just focus on perch ?

    Thank you for your input.

  7. I really like the custom corner option. I sent information to Traxstech for options but I have not heard back yet. Maybe they will be at the fishing show in birch run on the Mar 8.

We also plan to purchase 4 cannon downriggers and my though is that the show might be the cheapest option. I did how ever noticed that if you ordered them via cabelas, you get a 150$ gift card.

  8. Thank you for the feedback. Yes we are going to have Great Lakes Boat Haulers move the boat for us.

Had someone mentioned that we have to be careful with the stringers in the baha boats. Sounds like how ever that the issue was much better starting in 1997.

Anything Baha Built that is 1997 model year or newer would have Greenwood XL panel as the core for the stringers and transom, as well as any other areas where a core reinforcement was needed. Greenwood has a lifetime warranty against rot and in the 15 years they used it, there was never a claim for any wood rot problems.

The Radar is a Raytheon SL70. I thought maybe color would be nice, but I have no experience with radar. Our trophy does not have radar.

  9. I forgot to ask, the boat baha has very low hours < 500. What do you think it would be worth?

It has no trailer, it is decent shape, all the current electronics are dated so I estimate their value at $2000.

I'm just looking for a ball park. I have used NADA but i'm not sure how good this really is for estimating a large boats value.

  10. Good Afternoon,

New to the GL Fisherman site!

We are in the process of buying a new boat. It is a 1999 Baha Cruisers Weekender 313. Anyone with experience with this boat, I would love to hear about it. It has twin PCM Marine Engines (Chevy 350).

I am also looking for rigging advice. Our previous boat is 21' Trophy that we had completely outfitted by BigJon (we know the plastics parts very well). How ever with this boat, we are looking at other options. My feeling is that there is now better technology out there like Traxstech or Cannon.

Today the Baha has 4 Elec Walker Downriggers, 4 Big jon rod holders (2 per side) and big board reels attached to the hard top.

If you could buy what ever you wanted to outfit a new boat, what would it be? We also plan to buy a new radar system, GPS, Fishfinder and replace the Fishhawk unit.

FYI... The boat will be in linwood for 2 months catching walleye, then moved to Frankfort for trout and salmon.

Appreciate all of the advice and look forward to a great year.

    Justin
