  1. I think the main thing being missed here is this is NOT a tourny. This is set up to have a little FUN with some fellow fishermen. How many rules do you actually need to have a little fun ?? I feel bad for you Sparky it sounds like you had a decent box but i also believe Terry made the right call with ending the event. Everyone knows how ugly it got out there. No one can control what happens with the weather and you really couldnt ask 10 or so teams to sit around for 3 hours at the cleaning station to wait for a couple boats that had to wait out the storm in other ports, it sounds like it happened to more than just you. Maybe some other forms of communication could be discussed for the future like maybe exchange a few phone numbers but as of now most everyone just uses the radio. Everyone has to remember that we do this for FUN and for me anyway the more rules i see the less interested i will be. Lets try to keep this event what it was meant to be. Sparky im sure your discouraged but hope you change your mind and make it out for the next one.

  2. Glad to hear you got it working as I have not made it to my boat yet. I spent MANY hours searching different forums when mine wouldn't work and don't remember now where I found the info I needed. I called Raymarine and Lowrance a couple different times and that was just a waste of breath once they heard I was hooking someone elses product to theirs. Now I just need to figure out how to get my Lowrance to talk to my VHF to make the DSC work. More pulling hair out to come I suppose

  3. I wish my boat was here to look but I had the same problem with the Elite 7Hdi (which runs the same nema wiring as the hds) to my Raymarine autopilot and believe I had to use the yellow and then just the common ground which is just the shielded wire. It also would not work with the actual receive wire which im sure was also blue. I should be over to the boat in the next few days I think and ill take a look or have someone else take a pic for me

  4. Getting the kids involved is a great idea but would be hard to put something solid in place IMO. Some guys have kids to young to fish others are to old to qualify and some don't have kids. Also the scales will be a busy place to get everyone through and in a timely manner without throwing in that curve.

Although I do usually have 2 kids with me one is 14 will be 15 in June and the other is 42 going on 12 (he probably wont qualify  ). If guys were interested it may be fun to have a side bet going maybe something like $5 per kid that wants to enter for the longest fish they caught or wait till everyone weighs for league then have kids go up for their weights?? I would be up for something like that if my kid(the 14yr old) met the age limit everyone agreed on.

  5. With the 1-man DNR limit, it's a max of three trout of one species. That would mean, for example I can catch three steelhead and 2 of another other species, whether they are lakers, browns, coho or kings it doesn't matter. They don't have to be salmon.

I'm not sure I would be up for starting earlier. If we had a shotgun start, could I just show up a little later and still fish the event?

Edit: JDH I believe you are right on this 3/2 2/3 or 5 salmon

  6. How abou makeing it weigh 5 fish but weigh a 1 person DNR Limet , as in now more than 3 trout or five salmon.

Are you thinking one man limit at 10pts per fish? Or one man and the points the way they are?

    Either way would work well.

I understand that some would still like to play the different strategies with the points the way the are now but at least with a one man limit the field wouldn't be dominated by a box of 4lb browns.

  7. Last year was our first time fishing the WMFL and had a great time at every event and just wanted to say thanks to Jon for the time he put in to make that happen and also thanks Terry for keeping this event going into the future.

I like the idea of multi port to change things up a little but wanted to throw this out there why not a port like South Haven ??? I'm just saying this because they have lost there league and I'm sure there is some boats down there that would want in on the action and there is a league currently running out of Muskegon. Maybe the city launch doesn't make that a possibility im not sure but like I said just throwing an idea out there.

I'm sure you will do what is best for everyone and we look forward to fishing with everyone again this year where ever it may be.
