My dad and i are working on restoring a 1977 century raven 250. It has a ford 351 with a mercruiser outdrive. I want to change the points in the ignition system considering we had to file them to get the motor running. The boat has also been sitting for ten years. My question is, should i put new points on it or upgrade to a modern ignition system. I am not up on the new systems as far as cost and how hard it is to install. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
