  1. The ice breakers have arrived in Marquette harbor.

    thought I'd share another sure sign of Spring while procrastinating my taxes a bit longer... :/ a quick one scene straight out of cam vid from the ice breaking operations in the wee hours of this morning in Marquette's Upper Harbor -will post more from this at some point including ice breaking on both sides of the dock and 1st ship arrival (Barker) http://www.LakeSuperiorPhoto.com/

  2. -Captain Dan Keatings "Salmon School" will be held in Marquette, MI on March 23, 2013 at the "Citizens Forum Room" at the Lakeview Arena.

    -The room is located on the south side of the arena, inside the first door to the East of the YMCA.

    -Doors will open at 9:15 a.m., the School will start at 10 a.m.

    -Captain Dan will speak from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., with a 1 hour break at Noon for lunch. This is your chance to soak up everything you can from one of the greatest Salmon Fisherman on the Great Lakes...in person.

    --Some of the topics Captain Dan usually covers include:

    -Way Deep Kings

    -Targeting Negative Kings Throughout the Day

    -Discerning and Responding to Currents

    -Meat Presentations

    -Integrating "Traditional" Tactics w/Cutting Edge Tactics

    -How to Locate Fish

    -Light Line Tactics

    -Lure Selection/Color Selection

    -Trailer Boat Spreads and Boat Control

    -Proven Steelhead Spreads

    -A full lunch with Pop and Water will be included with the class

    -Door Prizes and giveaways also included

    -Admission to the Gear Swap also included

    --$60 per person -Only 100 spots available

    -If spots are still availble, tickets will also be sold at the door.

    -FISHING GEAR SWAP

    -Gear swap/sale will start at 3 p.m., immediately following the Salmon School in the same location. Doors will not open until 3 p.m.

    -Swap will run from 3 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

    -$5 admission if you did not attend the Salmon School

    -If you plan to bring gear to sell/swap, please call John at (906) 250-1052 in advance so we can save you room.

    -There will also be SSFA gear availble, as well as memberships and 2013 SSFA schedule.

    -This Salmon School and Gear swap is being sponsored by Daybreak Charters and the South Shore Fishing Association. :thumb:
