I use a twisty-tie or even better a 18ga. piece of single strand wire through where the swivel connects. This keeps the J-Plug ready to go with the hooks all nicely kept in a Plano clear box!!

I'm new to the trolling game for salmon. I was wondering if you may lend a helping hand in some basics to a fellow fish seeker. Can you use braided line for the reels for the rods while trolling? If not what do you suggest. And what are the best down riggers in your opinion. I'm trying to outfit my boat before heading north, in search of the slippery silver devils. Thank you.

My dad and I washed some spoons for about 2 hours. Dragged Lemon Ice, Monkey Puke, Glow Blue Dolphin and some other spoons with no releases. When we got out there around 10 there were probably 10 boats all trolling right outside the break arms and we were happy to see that. 30 mins later there were no boats there. Only marked a few fish, then our graph took a sh*t on us so that is pretty disheartening. If anyone is looking to get rid of a graph let me know, I may be interested.
