  1. if it rolled over a few times then its not hydrolock. in the years i have spent working on cars and semis i havent see it yet that a timing chain breaks and locks up a motor either but it could happen. could be a crank shat or connecting rod issue which is costly. jon feel free to give me a call if you want at 269 720 5751 and maybe i might be able to give you some ideas plus i am in the dorr area just about everyday.

  2. ok i am gettin married sept 17 of this year and the bride to be wants to goto the u.p. for a short honeymoon. she also agreed to trying some big lake fishing. so my question is up around marquette who is a good charter to give a call and see if they are not booked for that time. i want to get out on supieor so thats why i am thinking up that away. and any good places for some nice hiking?

  3. I have been looking for a couple of spoons that have worked in the past on other boats I have been on. The problem is I can not seem to find them.

Monica (Not sure who makes it)

    Striker (Flinstone)

If you have one or 2 your willing to give up please let me know.

the monica is a fishlander i belive thats the manufacture i got 3 or 4 of them

  4. Me personally......I would put the 2 batteries in parallel. After a day of running the riggers up and down and powering all of the electronics, it puts a lot of drain on the battery.

How long will a battery last that is continuously deep drained and recharged?

roughly 70 cycles then the battery is junk. this goes for all batteries not just deep cycle

i would strongly recommend like mike siad running the batteries in parelall this is done by going pos to pos neg to neg.

  5. the past summer was loaded with all sorts of drama and i am not tryin to rekindle the fueds.

and with that i will no longer be logging on to the site and i have also sent a pm to mike asking him to delete my account.

there wil always be heated discousions about whos right whos wrong and in the wierd tists new friendships will be made while exsiting friendships might to come to an end.

i have learned alot for alot of people on this site and it was a fun time while it lasted but all good runs must come to an end.

to all the hunters good luck may your shots be true and your kills be clean and humane to the animals you prosude.

to everyone else good luck on the big ole ponds.

  6. i would stay away from bj's sports way over priced and not much knowlage on the staff's part. goto tackle haven in benton harbor way better pricing.

also for myself i have found 9 foot ultra light im7 rod is my fav. rod rigged with 6lb test. i havent lost a fish to broken line yet and i have done pier river fishing for 10 years.

for tackle i would say start with some 3/4 oz and 2/5oz lil cleos and ko wobblers also some artic spinners/osglos green orange pink seem to be the most productive colors then blue. i would also reccomend opting for the glow baits

  7. with all the stuff i have going on i am thinking about offing all my big lake gear. i am just trying to get an idea whats stuff is worth.

i have roughly 125 different spoons from dream weaver to moonshine and alot inbetween

i have roughly 40 body baits most never even touched water yet all brad's thin fish and rapalas and storms

6 poles 4 cablea's with cablea reels 2 eagle claw with accudeepth reels

church revalators and pro troll flashers

misc. flies and fly tying stuff

and palno boxes galore any ideas on worth would help

  8. Fair enough.

    Good question.

Diesel just has to pick on everyone.

My answer (I think) was in the post as well.

I'd stay on the fish if you can get at least one every 30 minutes or so.

If they are coming one an hour you won't have time to get a full box.

If you have about 4-6 fish and have two or so hours left to fish' date=' I would go after some lakers (on the bottom) or change water.

This greatly depends on the port as you probably know.

Muskegon offers opportunities to go and fish the nets in the last two hours, and Ludington you can fish different depths quickly.

In Grand Haven, Holland and south you have to change tactics.

Sometimes this means going deep for steel on top (in calm weather).

Sometimes this means going in front and trying to fish the mud (listen to Hitman for tips on this topic).

If you were able to catch the event this past winter they gave a lot of great advice on fishing different species and different waters.

Sorry again to attack the post.

    Yours was a great question.[/quote']

hows was that picking on anyone i was stating that 2 of the 3 fish came well after sun up

  9. i found in my smoking that if i keep the heat to around 180 durining the first hour to 2 hours that the fish has a better smoke taste to it.

i'll have to try that brine always on the look out for a new taste.

the brine i make up is: and not trying to hijack your post:

    1 gallon water

2 cups morton tender quick salt

1 small box of dark brown sugar

    1 bottle treoki sause

    1/4 bottle liguid smoke

    1/4 cup of capt morgan

let soak for 24 to 36 hours and smoke

  10. We ended the day 5 for 12(2 kings, 2 steelhead, 1 lake trout). :( 6 of the 7 fish we lost within 10' of the back of the boat, and all were nice kings. 3 wrapped in wire divers, 1 flopped out of the net, 1 was knocked off with the net(I was not on the net), and 1 had the hook harness come apart. The other fish was a steelhead on a slider(rigger was parked at 60') that launched like a missle. We were hooked up for about 5 seconds with this fish.

mike say it aint so you lost fish at the back of the boat? you must have them cool reels with a scale built in and was cheating

  11. first off i know everyone is sick of hearing about asian carp so sorry in advance.

with the oil in the kalamazoo river it made me sit back and think and i hope alot of other people did also. it made me wonder if this is the begining of the end did i teach the kids i introduced to fishing and hunting the correct way of being a member of the hunting and fishing community? did i with my own kids teach them to respect nature tread lightly because this could all be gone in the future? i belive i taught them all conservation and respect for their fellow hunters and fishermen/women.

i had my girlfriends son ask me the other night about what the big deal of asian carp is, so i explained to him what they are caplable of doing and the look on his face was one of holy crap. few people on here know me personally and even fewer know any of my kids. and i have had the privalge to take hunter out on the big lake for his first time this year and he loved it. so while me and a few other friends were talking about the fishing and hunting and what might happen to it he asked "if i have kids well i be able to even take them fishing or will you be able to take them fishing if and when he desides to have any (by the way he is only 12). i couldnt give him a honest answer cause i dont know.

but he has logged on here under my name and has read alot of the post because he really wants to learn conservation and true SPOTSMENSHIP. i myself have made a few posts that prob. were not in the sportsmenship manner and @itched and complained and i have no excusse for it. he has pointed out other adults who also have not posted a mentors.

i know that i am just a member of this site and have to respect the rules like everyone else. but it took a 12 year to make me realize i was acting like i was 12. so i am just asking on behalf of any other parents on this site who allow thier childern to read the post because they show an intrest lets all act like sportsmen and teach the future of our fav past time if it be fishing or hunting to our childern and any of those childern that want to learn how to be sportsmen
