  1. I have sold Toyota's since 1993, Excellent product. I have sold 7 of the new body style 5.7's to close friends and people that I see at least once a month. Absolutely no problems, NOT ONE! I have one friend that pulls a trailer nearly every day for his living and has 60,000 miles on his truck in the last 24 months. No problems. I pulled out my 280 Boston Whaler Conqest with twin 225's on it with a Tundra with the 5.7 V8 and pulled much better than than 3/4 ton (name withheld) I put it in with. I can tell you is after spending the last 15 years selling Toyota's, Tawood is the first unhappy Tundra customer I have met, and I manage the highest volume Toyota used car department in the state of Michigan. I get to see unhappy customers... Tundra owners are not unhappy and more often than not trade their Tundra for another Tundra.

Some facts about the Tundra: It is rated at 401 ft lbs of torque. I can't believe you would have a problem towing with it. The tongue weight is not 180 lbs. The GVW of a Dobulecab 5.7 4x4 is 5460, the GVWR is 7100 lbs, Tongue capacity for towing is calculated by the GVWR of 7100 and subtracting the total weight of the truck (the GVW), the cargo and passengers. ie: if you have 740 lbs of gear and passengers you would have an available tongue weight of 800 lbs with this application.

If you would like to see more about the Tundra take a look at this website:

Do I think you should buy a Tundra...

Only if you want one. Chevy, Ford and Dodge are all nice trucks as well, I think they all are putting out a nice product right now.

Good luck with your search and if you want to know anything about the Tundra, I know quite a bit about it.

  2. Its some kind of Warbler, this bird was great.

It ate a dead bug out of one of our hands, it landed on my shoulder, it was like it was tame.

It was sitting on one of the rods when it went off, and it took off and flew right back to the boat and sat on the rigger. We couldn't believe it. If we would have hit our limit I think I would have had to capture him and make him my mascot.

Set up @ 6:45 am in 65 foot went out to 115, best depth for us was 85

    Went 6 for 8

4 small kings (small kings were on riggers w/ spoons)

1 nice sized three yr old king on braid (no dipsey, on a walley board w/ a thin fish, no I'm not kidding..., thats the one the bird sitting on

    last but not least

1 laker on a tin can w/ blue mirage fly

We had a nice hitchhiker for most of the morning, ate every bug on my boat!

Not really hot and heavy action, but the lake was flat, the sun came out and were able to put some fish in the boat.

  4. My favorite reel is the one that has a fish on the other end... after that I would say that I do prefer my Takota's over my Okumas. For some reason my Okumas don't keep the line even on the spool. It could be operator error but I don't get the same result w/ my Takota's. Other than that, the Okuma's work just fine at a fraction of the cost. What I was told when I was buying my reels is that spend the big coin for the outside reels, (lead, copper, and dipseys) and you can get away w/ going cheap on the riggers. So far this theory has worked out for me.

  5. We left the docks in the rain at 6:00 headed out and started setting at 85ft pretty much straight out. Luckily the rain stopped before we we needed to set lines.

Set the riggers and just as I got the first dipsey down, (125 back on 2ish) we caught a nice 19.3lb King on a Blue spin Doctor w/ Blue Mirage fly, as we were wrestiling w/ that one the first rigger popped (lemon ice Stinger Mag) and we had two nice fish w/ only three rods in the water. It was pretty steady until 10:30 and ended up pulling lines at 11:15.

    We landed:

    1 steelhead

5 Greasers of which we threw back three

6 Kings largest being the 19.3lb

blue spin doctor w/ blue mirage fly on a dipsey was the hot setup for us today taking at least three maybe four fish

Caught one King on a Jensen Tin can w/ fly on a rigger, not sure what they call this color but it was similar to blue mirage w/ a little more blue in it.

One laker on a yeck mixed veggie

Lemon Ice stinger Mag and a yeck Lemon Ice each landed a fish

One fish on a Stinger red hot spoon

I really lost track, but If I was fishing on Monday I'd look in that 90-110 foot range, and put out the spinnies and flies. I think most important thing for us Sunday was staying in 95 to 102 foot of water. We were marking a decent number of fish.

Good luck guys, Hope this helps...

Oh' we also caught a nice J-Plug... Anyone lose one?? (no fish attached)

  6. You will love the hard top, I was going back and forth when I was making my purchase and am so glad I went that direction.

As far as the boat name, you retired the Sea Nymph so, "Retired Nympho"

  7. A co-workers wife won a boat in a raffle and she has no use for it. I have seen it, it was brand new and never been in the water however it is titled so it for all purposes a brand new/used boat. She has told me that she is asking $8,500, but if I know someone that wants it she would go as low as $7,500. I have no interest in this deal other than helping her get rid of it and helping perhaps one of you get a steal of a deal. I listed it on ebay for her as a classified and here is a link to the boat. If you have interest just give her a call and let her know that Chris told you that she would take $7,500. She paid tax on $12,700 ish for the price of the boat and has a clear title to package. If you can use something like this just give her a call her name is Tressa Moore. She is a very nice person.

  8. Yes and the other one shut off, in gear and still in the water.

Very nice boat by the way! And that is an AWESOME FISH!

    My question is:

I have twin outboards as well, when trolling I am only running one motor. I leave the one that is turned off down and in neutral. Any harm in doing this? I see you are a mechanic, and you leave your off motor in gear. Is that just to slow you down? or is this the a better on the outboard?

I can dial my troll control down to 1 mph on one motor if I had to, so speed is not a problem. I am wondering which way is more mechanically sound, or if either way is acceptable.

    Thanks,

    Chris

I'll be out Sunday and Monday wife willing, I tried getting out last Sunday It was going to be me and four of my buddies, they all droped like flies when they saw the forcast. It seems this is the most difficult part of fishing so far, everyone "wants" to go until it is time to actually go!
