  1. 7-15AM solo Muskegon

Lines down in Muskegon at 6 am in 70 fow about 2 miles S.  Pick up a Steel right away on J plug on 7 color.  Work area for a while and out to 125fow.  Pick up run 5 miles N of piers and 180 fow.   Work out to 325 with nothing going, troll all the way back into 135-125 and pick up laker and a steel and lose a laker.  Lines up at 11:00.  Survey guy at snug says he's done 15 surveys.  8 blanks, couple 1 and 2's and the biggest box was 4.  4 total kings recorded

    7-16AM  Whitehall.

Have friends up from Indiana and Kentucky.  Run about 2 miles S and drop in 65 fow at 6:45.  Set rigger with Blue killer spinnie and mirage fly down 35.  Start setting Dipsey and the rigger is bouncing.  10 lb King.  Work 65-85 for an hour or 2 with bait marks and a few fish but no bites.  Work out to 120-140 pick up another 10lb king on a Mag Screwball out 130 on 5 slide diver.  That  was it.  Saw marks on bottom all day and had a laker rig down there but no bites.  Found out why as I brought it up as I was pulling lines and my whirly gig was somehow chafed off.  Grumble grumble. Lines up at 11

    7-16 PM Holland

Fought a 1-3 foot NW chop all the way up to Port Sheldon so we could turn around and ride them back.  Set down at 6:30 PM in 155 fow and headed South.  Took a 14 lb King on a mag super screw out 185 on 2 mag diver before all lines out.  8PM take a 2 lb  king on a 150CU Stingray KC-1.  10 minutes later 7 lb Steel on same rig.  Started working in for the sunset.  Lost a slider bite down 30 std size inmate UV.  Hit and run on a 300CU with std coyote.  Finally pulling lines at 9:45PM lost a rigger bite on a mag dreamweaver glow spoon white w/pink dots down 40.  Ended up in 110 fow

  3. Well after an unbelievable May of King and Coho fishing it's time to bring in an update. Let's hope those monster numbers and sizes come back home for July! I have sent out e-mails to the couple of teams that missed the June 1 deadline. We still have 6 spots left so If you know anyone who'd like to join us please let them know. Just to give everybody some perspective we already have 4 more boats than the Amateur section of the Grand Haven Offshore last weekend.

  4. I have the x4d.  I'm not sure the depth is worth the extra cash.  There are so many variables when running dipseys, cores, coppers that having the exact depth is really not a benefit in my eyes.  Getting the general depth of the temp range you're looking for on your rigger counter is good enough.   I run 13lb pancakes and have never seen large variances in counter depth vs x4d until you get way down and at that depth do you really need to know the temp.  Guarantee 95% of the time it will be mid to low 40's down past 150.  Anyway that's my $.02

  5. Lines down at 6:45 up at 11:30.  Went 16 for 19.  1 dropback steel, 6 hos, 9 Kings.  Largest king was 18.  Ho's were all small 2-3 lb.

Took bites from 150 to 215 straight out to a little South.  Best water was the 170's.  Had 12 by 9am and then it went pretty dry.  Temps started at 48 and ended at 51

Speed was 2.8-3.0 SOG.  No direction better than another.  Took bites on every presentation except for meat. 300,250.150,7 color,10color,slide diver, mag diver, riggers

Mag Flounder pounder and Midnight special were good early then moved on to brighter spoons Jordo, lemon ice, mixed veggie.

1 bite on a paddle and 1 bite on a spinny.  Everything else was spoons in the top 60.

Landed the second ever true double on my boat with 2 ho's

Vibrator fly on a slider took 3 ho's and a king.

  6. You want to go out of the Harbor Island boat launch.  That is the main launch for Grand Haven and will easily handle a 27 foot boat.  As FBD said  you want to go directly out to the main channel from the docks as it can get shallow up or down stream from the launch.  You could certainly launch out of Snug in Muskegon which has a small fish cleaning station.  But I would argue it is any easier to get to than Harbor Island.  Also I've hit a couple underwater stumps heading out of Snug before I learned how to leave and come into that launch.  Higher water levels may have made that a moot point though.

  7. Fought the waves this morning from 630-930 just N of Saugatuck.  Had a buddy and his young son but we only ran 6 lines to keep away from too many tangles.  Went 10 for 13 with a throwback shaker.  8 Kings and 2 ho's.  Biggest was 17.5

    Took bites in 115-140

    Temps were cold at 47

Once again spoons ruled for me. Mag black spoons up in the top 40 ruled the day.

Rigger down 35 with Mag carbon moonshine took 3

250 copper with Mag Screwball took 3

Rest were on divers and 150 copper with purple spoons

Surface temp was 49.  SOG 2.5-2.7

All bites in top 60 feet.  Riggers 40 to 50 down with free sliders.  Dipseys out 70-100.  300,250,150, 10 color all went.

Last King was 1/2 way back to Holland

Marked quite a few fish all morning in 80-90.  Temps were 52 up in 45fow and 48 in 90fow
