Somebody told me you bought a boat Matt.
-
I bought a Hummingbird, very well priced and it interfaces with my Hummingbird 900 series sonar/plotter. You can purchase direct from Hummingbird.
-
Spend a little extra and buy one with the snag proof netting, or buy the netting separate. Lot easier to get the hooks out of the netting.
-
Will this work on socks?
-
How well do you think the powder coating will hold up, I have a couple of things for the boat back in the fishing area that I was thinking of having done.
-
I am glad I wasn't the only one wondering about the shape, was afraid I was going to have to make an appointment with a therapist.

The darkening can come from ingredients like Soy sauce, liquid smoke etc. You do not have to add sugar to the brine unless you like a sweet taste. For a low carb brine try using fresh herbs and spices, fresh garlic, lemon and onion. Add all ingredients and bring to a boil to blend the flavors, then cool with ice before adding your fish.
Smoke at around 160 degrees for 5-6 hours with a mild wood soaked in water.
-
I don't think it would be a good idea to smoke fish without brining first, the salt is what keeps you from food poisoning as a result of cooking at a low temp. for long periods of time.

Must be the boat didn't leak.

You might want to look at the one Mike has for sale, the 270 Amberjack. I have the same boat only in a hardtop and I have been on Mike's boat. Twin V6 economical and more than enough power.
-
Looks like it waiting for a name.
-
The Thompson I owned had a 470 Merc in it. Nice running motor, only problem is they used a water cooled voltage regulator, I was fishing one day and the water pump did not flow enough water through regulator and it caught on fire, good thing I had a fire extinguisher on board. That thing went up like a roman candle, cost $1,000.00 to get repaired. They used a closed cooling system because of the aluminum block.

I have used the jumbo Kwikfish with rattle with a little success, blue with the yellow accent.

Thanks for all who looked, but the Winddrift is sold. Congrats to Tony on an excellent purchase. You will be more than happy with this boat. Now you need to start making more rods in order to fill the 43 rodholders on this boat...
Just out of curiosity, why so many rod holders? What do you use them all for?
-
Very nice.
-
If you bought them new, there should be a depth chart included in the package. Use those numbers for starters.

Last summer I packed some precut herring strips in tuna with some cloves of garlic in it. It seemed not to do as well (as in nothing) compared to just running the salted herring strips. How do you guys do with the tuna mix?
-
I'll just keep hitting the Jack, when I'm unresponsive go ahead and pull it out.
-
Are those steel frame buildings?
-
I have taken downriggers to a shop that rebuilds starters, alternators and electric motors. Seems to be a cost effective way to service the motors and wiring.

I think the thing to keep in mind that no matter what autopilot a person uses, it will have limitations based on engine rpm at trolling speed. There will be days that the wind and or waves will force you to steer manually. I have twin screws, and when it starts getting rough I will fire up the second motor to help keep the boat squared up. If it gets to the point that both screws can't keep the boat straight at trolling speed, it's time to go in.

I have been using UV flashers with flies on my wire dipseys with good results.
-
If fish are slamming a particular lure, then how come once I bought 5 more of them they stop working all together?
I call that backing up the truck, kills it every time.

Man, those kings sure seem to be big for this time of year. What is August going to bring?
