To you Wisconsin fishermen, this is a valuable asset for the Salmon and trout fisherman, you can check out what kind of information you get at this link.http://uglos.mtu.edu/station_page.php?station=45026. You will appreciate the info on wave height and duration, and the temp at depth down to 55 or so feet. I highly recommend this to all Great lakes fishermen. If you can get the grant money it is a free site for your use.

Nice job Paul. Got blown off Tuesday, hope we get out Sunday.
Weather?

Supertramp, which marina are you docked at? im at pier 33
Brians Slip 111. Right next to the club house and fish cleaning station.

I suggest you change to a solid mount with backer plates. no more problems. Even my 14# weights blow back. What is critical is getting the same amount of wire out to reach the same depth consistently. I actually run a 12# ball on my wire that has my Fishawk probe on it. Good luck.

Finally got out Today Tuesday, and then the lightning started. Turned around and ran for cover. Spent the morning working on the boat. We have a Chriscraft 316 Sportfisherman. She is named SilverKing, and is slipped in St Joe. Rough water is not an issue but Lightning is.

Hi Mike,
Just bought one and put it on my boat this year. Makes me feel pretty good about the company. Thank you for letting us know. Hope you find some fish next trip too!
Paul C.
Planning on fishing tomorrow will let you know how we do.

My Fishawk recently quit giving down temp and would not calibrate, I tried new batteries and all the other stuff, finally called Fishawk on Sunday and left a voice mail asking for a call back.
They called Monday Morning, I went thru all of the issues and the lady says, I am going to send you a new display head to see if that solves the problem, just return mail the old one. Great. 10 minutes later she calls back and says the Boss says send both the new Display and a new probe, that should solve the problem. Just return mail the old ones. and we are good. Now that is service. I can't say enough about the product service they provide.

We set up shop in 180 fow and trolled out from there. Steady pickins of fat coho from flat lines' date=' 2 fish, 125 copper, 2 fish. By far, the best rigs were the wire divers, f/f combo's going 4/7 including big fish of the day, an 11lb. laker that was released after pic's. These were best @ 139 and 159' out set on 1.5 and no ring. We stayed between 180 and 230 fow.
Just an awesome day on the water with my son for the first time since losing his mother [and my wife for 30 years'] back in March. So thankful to see him smile again. I'll get the pic's loaded soon.
Dave
Nice job dave, will be over Saturday for an afternoon trip. My condolences on the loss of your wife, I lost mine in Feb. 2011, and its tough to get going again. My solution was I went back to work. Now I work and fish. See you on the Water.

Prior to this week, there were Coho in 325 to 350 FOW and Steelhead were there too. I haven't been out for about 1 week but on Tuesday last week we took 12 fish in that area. Been a little rough since then but will be out a couple of days this weekend. Possibly Friday and Sunday. Try to raise the SilverKing on 68 if I am out will respond.

MPH, Knots is too hard to break down on the fly. I had a gps that gave speed in knots and had to have a conversion table to figure it out. SOG is GPS speed over ground, and down speed is from the Fishawk or other type of troll speed indicator.

August 1984, off Gurnee Creek, We landed 25 Kings in 4 hours, Largest 31#5oz. certified scale, smallest 24# 2 oz same scale. Best single day of fishing in my nearly 40 years on the lake. All of the fish came on Loco spoons trolled in the top 20'. We spotted the fish schooled on top fins out of the water and put the baits out long and off of the outriggers and it was on.

I too run them just aft of midship, out boat is big, and wide with auto pilot so steering is never a problem. The aft lines are a must, makes retrieving the bags a snap. Biggest issue we have is the amount of turbulence they create, makes the Graph give false readings if the bags are too far back.

I strictly fish St Joe, and will be out at least once over the weekend, looks like Friday is out but possibly Sunday. You can call the SilverKing on 68 and we will answer when we are out. We keep a slip at Brians Marina.

Nicely done Kevin! Always good to get the kids involved. As for the butthead at check in, he evidently has never had to deal with any kind of health of developmental issue with a child. God bless and keep fishin.

Frank:
I have the same problem in St Joe I guess us old guys aren't allowed to take friends fishing. I have been accused of chartering for several years. Not gonna go there.

Mike,
Are you planning on going out this Sunday (6/29), and if so any room for riders?
Jon

I think I am taking Sunday and Tuesday off, got a problem with trim tabs and want to work on those.. Looks like its going to be pretty crappy weather too. I will let you know when I plan o fishing again. Hope to be out the weekend of July 4.

Kevin:
The best way to catch them consistently is to find them on the bottom, use a fairly short lead with a Trash Can and Spin-n-glow, put your ball on the sand and keep in light contact with the bottom, they will hit. Slow down to 1 mph or less and try running cowbells with the same or a peanut. Those greasers on the bottom what her slow. Kenny Neidlinger tells me that he used to run a Mtn Dew 8" paddle and a Pickled Sunshine fly all of the time on bottom to get his Lake trout. ( Ken is in really bad shape, his dementia is progressing very fast.

Welcome to the site.

You will figure it out Kevin. We have been finding a lot of them on the bottom in 140 to 150 in St Joe. But u know me only go there if I am about to get the Kitty.

I am quite sure that the sink rates blood run shows are close. I really don't worry too much, I only am sure that 300' of 45# copper is one of my top presentations and is always out. Its a really versatile tool. You just have to learn to hand the copper rod to the newbie. Makes for a tired but happy fisherman when he gets the fish in.

Sharp hooks are Coho medicine. They are notorious for rolling after hooked, and they wrap up a lot. Short strikes aren't the issue most of the time, the hooks aren't sharp. If you don't sharpen your hooks right out of the package you are making a big mistake. To tell if the hook is sharp, drag the point across your thumbnail. If the hook grabs it is sharp if it just slides and doesn't leave a scratch sharpen it. I personally have gone to changing all of my hooks to Gamakatsu blood reds, they are factory sharp and the red seems to appeal to the fish, especially Coho and Steelhead. Nice job on finding a school of fish that were willing.
