  1. Finished the day 9 for 15...all Coho.

    Hot set ups:

    Hot pink X-rap.

    BTF-259

3 color with a tangerine crush?

Other set ups that took a fish or had a hit:

Orangegasm Stinger on a 3 color.

    Hot head X-rap.

    STF Fire Tiger.

Tequila Sunrise Stinger on a 2 color.

BTF that is Aquamarine blue and green.

We farmed two fish at the boat( One got off in the net the other came off trying to lift it into the boat) and had one break off.

We did best in 25-30 FOW within a mile of the arms. Water temp. was anywhere from 37-39. Best speed was 2.5 - 3 mph.

All in all it was a good day on the water finishing one short of a limit.

  2. I love my Rhinos for other types of fishing. The glow tips tend to burn out fast, if you have used them during the day allot. I had a ML once. It had great action and feel to it. Unfortunately my wife found a way to break an indestructible rod.

  4. Well it looks like my 209's are not going to work. Being basicly lazy, I picked up some pre-made half core and found that he level wind opening is too narrow for the knots on the lead to fit through. Looks like I am going to be in the market for a couple of reels.

The level wind guide can be bent to accommodate the size of the knot.

  5. I ran a 400' last year. Unfortunately, with the cooler temps, it didn't produce many fish. I don't recall having any kinks with it. If I have to replace any copper in the future, it will be with the SC. I believe it only cost a couple more dollars per 300'. The only draw back I can see with running a 600', is the amount of pull it has on a in-line board.

  6. I use the HT tote. It holds all of my gear (any combination of 6 rods or tip-ups, pliers, jig box, 2 extra spools of line, ice scoop and a few other things). While it may take me a little longer to put the rods away, it sure beats having to untangle them the next time out. It will not accommodate any rod and reel combos over 24 inches, so I don't think it would be practical for you (Adam).

  7. It would seem that a great deal of the policing would fall upon those that weigh the fish in (bait shops). Will they be subjected to the lie detector test too?

I am in favor of not having a boat registration. This would help build the pot and increase the chances of the "weekend warrior" winning.

  8. The Department of Natural Resources and Environment is inviting the public to participate in the deer management planning process. Throughout February and March, eight public open house meetings will be held across Michigan to discuss the draft statewide deer management plan. These meetings will be held 7 to 9 p.m. EST, with the exception of the Crystal Falls meeting, which will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. CST.

"These open houses are to present the first draft of the Deer Management Plan to the public and to receive comments on the plan," said John Niewoonder, DNRE wildlife habitat biologist. "The citizen-based Deer Advisory Team, DNRE staff and others involved with the recommendations for this plan have worked diligently to create this document."

Local staff will be available after the meeting for other deer questions; the open house portion will focus solely on the draft plan. The plan is available for review on the DNR Web site at http://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,1607,7...153---,00.html.

Public open house locations and dates are as follows:

Tuesday Feb. 23, MDOT Southwest Regional Office, 1501 E. Kilgore Rd., Kalamazoo

Thursday Feb. 25, Novi Community Center, 45175 W. 10 Mile, Novi

Tuesday March 2, Alpena Civic Center, 133 Johnson St., Alpena

Tuesday March 9, Comfort Inn, 13954 State Highway M-28, Newberry
