  1. Frank, ive been looking at a foodsaver, the one you have, was it the lesser in cost or the more expensive one....ive heard the the cheap ones are junk, but never owning one i was wondering how much you spent and how well does it work??? PLEASE TELL ALL!!!! THX!!!

  2. Oh the #17 BITE ME ELMO has to stay, you never know when you'll have onboard a wee little one that has to pick a lure and for sure it will be Elmo that has to get washed, the bite me Elmo has lots-O-good JUJU and Mo-Jo, but other than that, bite me Elmo has no fish catching abilities or value but it does prove that no matter what kind of color scheme the lure manufactures make it will catch a fisherman's attention and lighten that said fisherman's wallet, as for me the jury is still out and i do not own one, but looking foreward to having one and adding to my collection of lures i own and never put out on a line!!

  3. JIM that is funny!!! "my wife won't even grab one of my core setups she just points at the bouncing rod and says your fish dear!!" I, myself love to grab the rod and fight the bigger fish and when its good and tuckered out i pass the rod off to one of the kids and the them do the really hard work!!! BOLTMAN, couple of my thoughts....cost, lead core is not very costly, you dont need a very expensive rod/reel, just one (reel) big enough to get enough backing and the length of lead core you want to run, you could even get away with a smaller reel by using a shorter core and by adding a "dive bomb" or big clip on lead weight, 6oz-8oz you get the same depth as you would as running a longer core.As already stated lead core takes your lure far away from your boat, and the fish that came to take a look at your downriggers and dipsies and went away uninterested, will see that spoon running way behind everything else all alone....and BAM!! i feel core works well for this reason and as well the fact that with your rod in its holder, the wave action jigging the core, also the core rising and falling in the water column adds action to the spoon/plug or whatever you are pulling with the core....BOTTOM LINE....works good lasts long time!!!

  4. mike (GLF) is the electrician maybe he can offer some advice.....ill try..."Will just one battery be enough to run a 9" color TV and camera for at least a half days fishing?"....that all depends on how much power the electronics draw, how well the batteries are charged and hold a charge....if you have a boat with deep cycle can you use that one???....."I came across a 12 volt 12amp/hr battery for $29.95".....this battery will give you 1 amp for 12hrs OR 12amps for 1 hr....or somewhere in between if i remember correctly, depending on the load on the batteries. maybe someone can add more or correct me if i am wrong.....also Remember, wiring batteries in series increases

voltage and wiring in parallel increases amp/hour

storage capacity.SO....you MUST wire them togther in PARALLEL as if you wire them in series you will get 24V and SMOKE your Electronic stuff TRY here for more info

  5. The 8oz pumphandle rigs were the best for us this year, followed by the two back downriggers with the large flashers set deep. Most days we were no longer using divers.

THANKS GUYS FOR ALL THE FEED BACK!! WILLIE......DID YOU RUN THE PUMPS ON BIG BOARDS, SMALLER CHURCHES TYPE, DOWN THE CHUTE OR SOMEOTHER WAY??? THX

BOLTMAN, i use a 12v UV blacklight, got it at dicks sporting goods, but look at wallmart the carry one as well, the black UV really gets the glow "charged up".....but a bright LED light works well as so does a old camera flash!!!

  7. as for me why KNOT mono...???Mono stretches like crazy with the larger divers. trying to let them out far so that they run deep....causes a little trouble...if you want to trip the dipsy and "POP" the release to retreive it the mono acts like a huge snubber and stretches like crazy and makes Poping the dipsy impossible......and just try reeling in a big dipsy without the release poped, now mono has its place, mainly running it on smaller divers set on #3, here is why, the mono will stretch and cause the dipsy to "fly" or track more sideways and dive less this will cover more water laterally allowing you to cover more water, here in chicago the CoHo are shallow and the more water you can cover and the wider your spread the better espicially when in shallow, OK now why wire/braid?? easy NO STRETCH, also the wire/braid has thinner OD allowing it to get deeper and has less drag and water resistance......and also makes POPING easy.....i hope this is clear and answers your question

  8. Guys, i been reviewing the past trolling season and noticed that my dipsy's caught fish at almost a 4 to 1 ratio...my normal set-up was 2 dipsy's 2 lead cores/boards and 2 downriggers.....more or less depending on the crew.....my question to everyone is, what was your best producing persentation method??? THX......MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!! John

  9. as for me if i did have a kicker without a doubt TR-1 ALL the way!! best thing since sliced bread!! ive fished on several boats with them and they work so well that if you get one youll say how did i ever fish without it!! you cannot have your EZ-steer connected...the tr-1 hydro ram will not have enought force to move the large outboard/sterndrive, and yes the only way to steer the kicker is thru the TR-1 controll. if you need more info i can get you a phone number of a marine mechanic that has installed many, and has much info on them.....good luck!!!

  10. i just mapquested it id say, looks good you could fish fall in the bay and a good place to bug-out for a approaching storm....but iam sure a local guy could tell ya more or just hang around the docks or fish cleaning station and ask......most guys love to brag about the days catch.....or try a local bait shop usually good spot for info!!

  11. ive looked myself at the B164, are you aware that that transducer is the size of small dinner plate??? the thing is huge!! and sure with 1Kw output you could see a pimple on a alewives butt at 1,000' but it seems that is good for deepsea fishing and OVERKILL for great lakes salmon, if your fish finder puts out 1 kW you do need a transducer that will be able to take that much power, what it the power output of your Fishfinder?? this one will take up to 600W and is a bunch smaller and 1/4-1/3 the cost

to be honest a speed/temp probe is way more important, but for me i like to "see" my downrigger weights and know where they are running and a good FF and transducer will make this possible, HERE IS MORE READING ON TRANSDUCERS
