  6. Last 3 weeks oct 4, 11, and 18th. fished manistee river once and st joe twice. Not much to get excited about. Hooked 2 Salmon on the manistee back at the beginning of the month, and lost both. Then completely skunked not even a bite on the joe oct 11. Finally yesterday got one nice fresh hen steelhead on the joe. Probably a lot of others doing much better than me. But thats how it goes for me.

  8. I was the only one out that I could see fishing. There squadrons of 40-50ft cruisers coming from Chicago. They came by me and turned 0-1ft waves into 3-4 chop for short times. I was hoping to catch some other species, but at least I didn't catch the skunk! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
  9. Fished from 9-11:30. Late start, went 1/1 today, 6.8# laketrout, on Craigs flounder std, with 7c, in 85 fow, no other bites. Fished from front of piers to 105 fow. Marked a lot at pier heads, but no takers. Nice to get out after all this bad weather. I followed a mile long scum line, weaving in a out. Fish were from the surface to 45 down the entire length. When i caught the LT, I saw my board trailing the boat sideways( broadbeam) but not releasing and then it just stopped acting like a snow plow. I pulled in the board and didn't really feel anything. After cranking in alot more I finally got some pull back. I hooked him well. Once on board he beat himself up in the cooler. The currents were crossing each other effecting my trolling speed alot. I went from 2.5 to 3.0 to 1.7 many times todays. Wind picked up as I was leaving. Not to many days left now. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Great Lakes Fisherman Mobile App
  10. It will last almost indefinitely. If it does not have abrasions, frays or kinks, you don't need to replace it. You can also get away with just stripping off a few feet at the end if that is the only area with damage. if you drag bottom for lake trout, the end may get damaged but it will be fine a few feet up the line.
  11. How often does everyone replace their down rigger cable? I haven't replaced mine in quite a few years and wasn't really sure how often I should do it. Thanks in advance, Ryan
  12. Depth Raider speed and temperature probe system, like new condition, sell for $180.00 got out of Lake Michigan boating and fishing, more items to list in the future.
  13. I have 2 Traxstech 6” tall downrigger mounts, like new condition, 2 for $80.00
  14. 2 Cannon Uni-troll 10 downriggers w/adjustable booms to 53”. 2-8#balls and blank releases. $300.00
  15. Looks great Sea Eagle. I like your rod/reel organization too. I took off my Magnum Metalz downriggers, lubed them up, cut off some cable and added new Klincher ends. I am ready to troll this coming spring (or if we get some calm days out in Frankfort), but I put the sport top up and I am now configured for perch jigging. I can quickly change back to trolling if we get an Indian summer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I purchased my Big Jon Tournaments along with my tracks and Berts ratcheting rod holders at the GR sports show many years ago now. I've moved them between my boats by just adding new tracks. I've used both Berts and Traxstech tracks. My downriggers are mounted on Big Jon swivel bases. Here is a photo of my set up on my latest boat. You can definitely save a bunch of money by buying at the spring shows. I picked up my trees at a swap meet for $75 for the pair. I might also be the guy Dan was talking about who runs 300 Cu and 10 colors of leadcore on church Walleye boards. If you have one, I did need to fabricate a new pick up for my Depth Raider speed/temp probe so the bead for the auto stops on the down riggers would pass through. I made it out of some flared copper tubing, a couple of tubing clamps and some zip ties. Here is a close up of that.
  17. Very Good condition,no leaks.....Motor is not for sale. $650 616 four oh three four 4 oh 5
  18. Oops! Time for new glasses. I fixed it. Thanks for the heads up.

  20. The only issue you will have at super low speeds is if you are experiencing a moderate to strong crosswind. I use 300 coppers and 100yd leadcore set-ups behind big boards. The only problem is getting a pinch pad release to hold against the strong pull. Solved that by putting a #16 rubber band on the line and pinching the rubber band in the pinch pad. The band grips tighter, but when it stretches when a fish pulls, it get's smaller in the grip and will either just break or release from the pinch pad. You'll probably have better luck running the tether from a Tee-Top than from a center mounted mast. Don't be too quick to switch. It probably won't be money well spent.
  21. Location Dunkirk NY 14048 1984 Mercury 75 hp, no trim and tilt. I have a set of newer controls that go with it. Will need an impeller. Will start and run. I bought this a year ago from the retiring owner of a boat repair shop. He has kept this inside for a number of years for a project which never occurred. $825.00 or best offer
  22. After dark casting crank baits at Luna Pier, Sterling State park beach off the rock wall or the beach in waders. They come in shallow in the fall when waters cool.

  24. Newbie here. My last fishing trip out on the Lake Erie. I ended up catching around 30 bass in just a few hours in the morning. It was a good day for sure. Love to hear and input on the video I put together of the day of fishing. Thanks and tight lines. Lake Erie Early Fall Transition Bass
