NWMI Fishing Club Wednesday Night Season Begins!

The NWMI Fishing Club starts its Wednesday Night Weekly Fishing contests on May 12th at the Bingham Launch on Lake Leelanau.

Come on out and enjoy a great night of fishing! The weather is predicted to be warm and calm.

We will be paying out to the largest walleye and largest northern pike. $10 enters you in both divisions.

A club member must be present in the boat to participate, we will be signing up new memberships in the parking lot.

Lines in from 6pm to 10pm. Registration starts at 515pm.

On Saturday, 08MAY21 – The NWMI Fishing Club is hosting “The Inaugural Cisco in the Crisco” (East Bay Yuba Launch) – Lunch Catch and Cook.

This is an “open to the public event. No requirement to be a member.

Entry fee is $10 per person.

Cash payouts to the top 3 teams for a combined bag of the heaviest 1-Man limit of up to 10 Cisco (1-Man limit) and 2 Lake Trout (1-man limit).

Plaque will be awarded for 1st place for the heaviest Bag of 10 cisco.

$20 side bet for heaviest Lake Trout.

$50/50 drawing

11th Annual Dreamweaver Charity Tournament

Hello Everybody,
Sign up for the 11th Annual Dreamweaver Charity tourney is now open. For those of you who have never heard of this tourney here is a little history. Years ago the West Michigan Fishing League started this tournament as a fun tournament where everyone has to fish with the same lures. It made it fun for guys just starting out. Whether you have a 16 foot tiller or a 30+ Tiara the playing field is leveled out for everyone. Included in your entry fee is a Captains Pack that includes your lures for the tournament. This will include spoons, a plug, spinnies, flies, whirly gig, and this year a meat rig along with a pack of meat strips. The Captains pack alone is worth well over the $75 entry fee. The tournament experienced so much success that back in 2008 we partnered with Benefit 4 Kids (B4K) and turned it into a Charity tournament.

Over the past 10 years we have raised over $100K and sent 11 life limited kids and their families on outdoor adventures ranging from houseboat trips to Alaskan Brown Bear hunts! B4K and The Dreamweaver Charity tournament are 100% volunteer organizations. Every single dollar raised from the tournament goes directly to B4K

This years tournament is again being held at Fisherman's Landing Campground in Muskegon Mi. Saturday July 28,2018. Please see the following rules on the tournament and how to sign up. Tourney Fees are $75.00 total. $70.00 Dollars to enter tourney, $5.00 dollars for big fish. We are accepting PayPal this year ($5 fee will be added to your entry total to cover PayPal charges). This is a FUN charity tournament. We ask people to share fishing tips on the radio (Channel 72). Please keep your comments at a PG rating. This is a family orientated event.

You may ONLY use the lures provided in the lure pack. If you lose a lure you are down a lure, no replacing the lure with a like lure in your boat. No adding scent. No alterations of the lures (exception, line on the fly and changing hooks if they become unusable).

ANY PORT ON LAKE MICHIGAN IS OPEN TO FISH.

Fishing starts no earlier than 5:00 AM, there is no stop time HOWEVER a team representative must be in line with fish for weigh-in by 1:00 PM at Fisherman’s Landing, Muskegon. You will be disqualified if you are not in weigh-in line by 1:00pm. A tournament representative will be ready to weigh fish by 11:00 AM.

Boats may use up to 9 rods in the water MAX at any one time.

Three-man DNR fish limit MAX per boat.

Weigh 5 fish of the following kind (King, Coho, Steelhead, Browns, and Lakers).

Each fish is worth 10 points plus weight.

Know what your big fish is. You get 1 chance to weigh your big fish.

All captains/representatives must sign a waiver form prior to getting their lure packages. A representative will be in the Fisherman’s Landing Pavilion from 4:30 AM to 5:00 AM (day of tournament). NO EXCEPTIONS!

Lure packages will also be available Friday at the Fisherman’s Landing Campground. Park in the boat launch parking lot and walk into the campground please.

Waiver forms are available in .PDF, If possible print them, fill them out, and send them with your payment. (For Waiver form email setting.lines@gmail.com)

If you do not show up for the event, your lure package will be donated as a prize and money will not be refunded. To cancel you MUST email (tgafish1@yahoo.com) or call Tom Andris directly. (Phone numbers will be given to captains).

We will not be issuing a cancellation of tournament. Each captain is responsible for their boat and crew. In the event of inclement weather if no boats weigh fish, big fish money will be donated to charity and a raffle will be held in the pavilion at 1:00 PM.

June 1st is the deadline to have entry fees in, this is because we have to order the lures and put the packages together. If you have signed up but not paid by the deadline date your spot will not be guaranteed.

Any boat that pays the entry fee prior to May 1st will receive 5 extra raffle tickets in their captain’s pack.

West Michigan Fishing League 2017

So now that the holidays are all over and we are coming up on February, that means it's not to early to start thinking about this coming season.
This year the only change at this point is that all of our tournaments will be run from Holland , do to lack of participation in South Haven. I am also working on contacting all of our previous sponsors and have a couple committed and would like one to replace the Always great Pyle's Port Hole that is now closed in south haven.
Anyhow , please keep checking back for updates and I should have the rules and schedule for this season posted in the next couple weeks. The sponsors that are is so far for this season are Morgan's Tackle, Big Weenie Brand and Silver Streak, thanks to all of these guys for helping out.

I've been told but a few people that they can not get into the wmfl sub form to read the rules , so from now on everything will be run on be main tournement page. Hear is the rules for those that can not find them.

Ok, after a few issues last season I have made a few rule changes and here they are regarding safety and fairness.

So with that said, here is this seasons new rules.

• Shot gun at 6 am , all boats need to be with in 1/4 mile of the pier heads and pull lines at Noon

. ALL BOATS MUST HAVE A WORKING MARINE RADIO WITH CHANNEL 72 AND YOU MUST MONITOR IT!

. You must be within radio frequencies, there will be a roll call at 5:50 and another at 11:30. if you do not answer at 11:30 you will be disqualified. If another boat can hear you and confirm it is you that is good.

.• Weight in 1pm at the fish cleaning station

• We will fish predicted seas of 1-3' or less. (or game day call)

.In the event that the event is cut short due to weather the weigh in will be held 45 min after the cancellation and points will be awarded.

• If small craft advisories are in effect we will not fish.

• I would like to encourage reports posted from teams after the events.

Communications encouraged on channel 72. Keep it clean for this is a family oriented event.

1. Max of 9 rods in the water at one time.

2. Tourney Fees. 25 dollars for tourney, plus 5 dollars for big fish.

3. Tourney Pay Outs will be on 20 boats or less

a. 1st place 50%

b. 2nd Place 30%

c. 3rd Place 20%

i. 20+ boats = pay down 4 boats 40%,25%,20%, 15%

d. Tie breaker will be biggest fish.

e. Big fish is winner takes all of big fish money.

4. Weigh your best 5 fish with 10 points per fish.

5. Max of 3 person limit per boat may be kept.

6. Money is due at weigh-in. Gentleman's honor to pay. Please pay if you are signed up. If you are having issues please contact me, so that I know not to look for you at the scale.

7. Start out of the same port as the weigh in.

8. If two members are fishing together, than the boat they are fishing out of gets the point.

9. Follow all other State and Federal Laws. The captain is responsible for his crew. Keep it safe.

10. Blow date will be the following day.

11. No charter Capt. and or current first mates.

12. All Capt. must PM me a cell phone number for safety reasons.

You do NOT need to fish all events to partake in this league.

This is going to be a multi port league with it being Holland and South Haven. "Look for date schedule in a few weeks". We will fish 3 dates out of each port and there will be a trophy awarded to the season points champion. The season points champ will be the team with the best three scores at the end of the season regardless of port fished. That being said , the more of these you fish the better chance you have.

This is a extremely fun fundraiser tournement to raise money to help fund the fight on the 2020 Tribal Negotiations, witch if passes would allow gill nets to be places anywhere in Make Michigan. Yes even write hear in your back yard weather it's St, Joe , Holland or Grand Haven, they will be hear. So if your interested go to hollandsteelheaders.org to learn more or sign up or even donate , there will also be a nice trophy for he team with the best 5 fish , and the best part is , you don't even have to figure out what do do with your sheep head, cat fish or what ever, the necritius foundation will be there to take ANY unwanted fish.

Ports are open from Muskegon to South Haven (and beyond) as long as you are at the Lake Mac Cleaning Station by 1:30pm!

This tournament has been set up to address hunger in the Holland area. All funds raised will be donated to Community Action House Kitchen to pay for protein for a daily feeding program and toward The Order of Naucratius to continue to do more and more for hungry Hollanders.

Our hope is that all fish will be donated to The Order of Naucratius.
