Destroyed the fish today. Starting off in a bay in the channels with minimal succes. Pulled 17 fish over there in aobut 5 hrs. Ran over to the mile roads off of the 900 club. Started drifting in 8 fow and killed the fish. We ended with 101 just 4 1/2 hours later. Those fish in the bay were caught on a variety of lures but off the mile roads we drug mud puppy gold tubes. Too many hits to count. 6 species of fish. Smallmouth, largemouth, rock bass, a few pike, 1 sheephead and 1 sunfish. What a day!!

Walleye fishing has been excellent since the water has cleared up and the weather has warmed. Limit catches are reported from many locations along the length of the river from Belle Isle to Trenton when jigging, trolling or handlining.

Walleye are in the river but recent storms have churned things up and the water is muddy, making it hard to catch fish. Walleye fishing should be great if the storms hold off, the water clears up and the water temperature climbs. Wait for 2 to 3 days to fish after heavy winds and rainstorms have left the area. This gives the river time to clear up and the walleye can see the bait better.

The water levels were good and the walleye fishing has been very good with some limits taken. Boats are launching along the entire river from Wyandotte down to Elizabeth Park. A good number of males have been caught, some up to 12 pounds. Most are using a jig and minnow or plastics.

Walleye fishing has been very good in the lower river even though water levels are running high and muddy. Some nice 11 to 13 pound fish were caught in the lower Trenton Channel when using a 5/8 to 3/4 ounce jig. Two-tone greens and blue have been good colors. Some are handlining rapalas or jigging with minnows. Perch can still be found east of Sugar Island in Canadian waters. Look for big northern pike in the backwaters.

Local rainfall will no doubt push water levels up by the end of the week. Ice flows are still coming down the river at this time so boat anglers will need to use caution. A few walleye have been caught in the lower river and some nice 10 to 15 inch perch have been caught in the canals and marinas.

Yellow perch are being taken in the bottom end of the river in the bays and canals with shiner minnows. The south end of Grosse Isle and Gibraltar are also producing nice catches of perch. Good pike action in the bays using sucker minnows.

Is experiencing some medium to slightly heavy ice flows that reach all the way down to Wyandotte. A southeast wind will keep the ice up against the shoreline and prevent access to boat anglers. Perch fishing has been good in the lower river in both Michigan and Canadian waters. Be ready to sort out the small ones. So far, boat anglers are launching at Gibraltar.

Good perch action continues on the south end of Grosse Ile when fishing in not only Gibraltar Bay, but also in the cuts and canals. The fish are running 10 to 14 inches long and have been caught in about 4 feet of water. Pike activity was a bit slower.
