  1. Last week
  2. The water is still quite cold in the tributaries, but the smallmouth were biting this weekend. I thought I'd run into brown trout, but instead, the pike and smallmouth bass were hitting spinners and jerk baits.
  3. Tried for trout and pike with spinners and jerk baits. The pike were there, but no trout. Instead, even though it is still pretty cold, I found some good smallmouth that were biting.
  4. Cool report. Really interesting spots on that bottom brown. Almost thought Atlantic at first.
  5. Storm Trooper fishing! Appreciate the Snowman runs in the spirit of the day. Yes you need a pilot house - I see one in your future . Thanks for the report.
  6. After not having the boat ready in time for the nice weather a couple of weeks ago, I finally got on the water for the first time this year. Left port just before sunrise with pretty poor visibility from the dark and snow. Ran south and set up a half mile or so north of the chalet's on a south troll in about 20fow. Lots of marks all day long in 18-23fow. Water temps were 42-44f everywhere except near Cook, it was 47-49f there. Got my first fish near that chalet's, brown trout on a flatline pulling a red w black thin fish. Second fish came just as I was passing Cook, coho on a 1 color lead core pulling a red with yellow thin fish. Circled back to run by the plant again on a North troll, but didn't pick anything up. Made a snowman along the way to try to make the best of the snow. It's a good thing there weren't any other boats out there, I had a pile of snowballs ready to go! After trolling north about 1/4 mile past Cook, I looped back south to make another pass. Didn't pick anything up along the way this time and ended up going a half mile or so south of Cook and working into 15fow. Made a big loop out to the North again into 25fow or so. Angled back in to 20fow near the south buoy at Cook and picked up another brown trout on the red with black thin fish on the flat line. Kept working North as the winds started to pick up a bit and another snow storm started. Made a couple more snowmen to help ignore the cold. Picked up another coho in front of the dunes on the red with black thin fish on the flat line. Kept on trolling north from there zig zagging through 17-25 fow. Passed a couple of pilothouse boats on south trolls along the way and decided that my next boat needs some kind of cabin. Picked up another coho along the way on the red with yellow thin fish on a one color to fill the box. Ran a two color lead core all day with a red with black thin fish on it, but never had any action on that. Hoping to make it back out on Sunday if the waves cooperate.
  7. Earlier
  8. Yes, it’s still available. I have it at my farm in Morgan county. I can bring it up to Huron after turkey season. Let me know if that’s ok with you.
  9. I tried spinners and crankbaits in the tribs, and didn't find them. There were a few in the Port Washington Harbor (a harbor on the Wisconsin Side of Lake Michigan)
  10. Tried a tributary and then went to the harbor. Found the browns with a crankbait in Port Washington.
  11. Are you still selling your custom painted bandit deep walleye crankbaits?
  12. Great idea having a portable propane heater. I was a little apprehensive on using one since most of the time I’m fishing in waves. Let me know how that works. I wont have the boat out of storage till April 9 and have some new items to install before I do my shake down run. Fishing in early to late April is usually spotty do to water temp. I think where your at I’ve heard that once the ice moves out fishing starts. ill send you a pic once I hit the water, my phone number is 1-616-401-5069
  13. FishDate: Monday, March 10, 2024. It appears the Perch have moved to deeper water, so is anybody hooking up Salmon yet? It is not like there aren't more than enough Salmon in the Lake for everyone; so DO TELL! What were you using? Spoons, lures, DR's, Dipsy's? Colors? Wave height, wind and weather conditions experienced during the troll? Just trying to get a general feel for what's working or what worked for you on a particular day?
  14. Absolutely, maybe we’ll pick up a few more guys on this. Let you know when I’m heading north.
  15. Sounds good Pete. I will do as well. I believe we are going to need some luck with the winds. It seems windy every day. Looking forward to getting out there. Hope to see you out there.
  16. Hi Stan the Man, now that you mention that they went to Facebook. I do remember that now I was on the same website, dont do FB either. The last 3 years I’ve had a lot of stuff going so I haven’t been up for a while but I plan on going up this spring and early summer as much as I can. I’ll post whatever I do, find, and see and post here on this thread. 🎣 Cheers to not a lot of east winds lol
  17. Hey guys I used to belong to another website where there was a ton of information about the bite on Lake Superior, but they decided to move it onto Facebook which I don't participate in, so I was done. I don't know how often you guys' fish up on the north shore, but we could try to get something going on here if you have time. It's very difficult to find info out there. We are going to try to spend a good amount of time up there this year. Just a thought. Tight lines.
  18. Thanks for sharing the pics. Browns are good eaters - enjoy!
  19. We were out near you yesterday too. Tried by cooks, water plant , alittle north and south of piers …nothing. Mark a few here and there and that was it. Two other boats at the launch got zip. Back to erie for awhile. Good job guys
  20. Just 3 for 3 at Cook plant . 2 browns, 1 coho. Ran 8 lines: high line, 1C, 2C and mini dipsey on each side. 2 in bubbler on gold double orange crush mini spoon on Big Jon mini dipsey out 50’. 1 on 1 color w/jointed J11 bk/chtome/wh/gold Rapala trolling north, downhill, between Cook and Chalets. At least a dozen boats down there and only saw 1 other net in the water. Not sure where they went. They could be in their other location this time of yr in 200’ eating invasive species Mysa shrimp. 200’ is about 13 miles out in SJ; around 7 miles inSourh Haven. PS: NO more fishing in the bubbler until fall; buoy boat was deploying buoys.
  21. Possibly a PB for me. I landed a huge female this weekend fishing in a Lake Michigan Tributary.
  22. The past two weeks, I made it to the Milwaukee River to fish for trout. There are some big ones in the river. I might have caught my biggest brown ever this weekend.
  23. Out after work yesterday a couple hours. Didn't mark alot 10-30fow working the shore and bars to the north. There is a dredge and tubes staged in consumers cove. On the way out went ~25 ft off the south like last years program was 2.4 Trolling on the way back in and did a goofy north pier head to south rocks line almost thru the middle never saw less than 4.4 Got 1 lure and some line in the channel so all hope was not lost.
  24. Hey Jiggin Jim I’m in the same boat per se. Live in the Brainerd Lakes area and can never find any reports on superior there used to be a superior forum but it’s disappeared.
  25. You’ll be lucky to get 25 cents a piece for old Northport Nailers. Pity as they still work. The other spoons I see are Producer’s spoons which you might be able to give away. Swap meet last week barely used currently popular spoons we’re going for $2 each.
