Hello Member's,
Well just thought I'd show you all how I tie my new super salmon flies for 2008, it is real easy if you just have a little patience.

http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/files/5/3/DSCF3939.JPG
1- You will need scissors, supper glue, beads, fly tinsel, fly heads, #2 trebble hooks, 50# mono or whatever you like to use, and a fly tieing bobin.

http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/files/5/3/DSCF3941.JPG
2- Cut off about 8" of your fly tinsel or whatever you like to cut off. I like alot of color on my flies so I cut off 8" of tinsel.

http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/files/5/3/DSCF3942.JPG
3- Put a little bit of super glue on the fly head and then start rolling your fly tinsel around your fly head. This is the hardest part of all, so just take your time when you wrap the fly tinsel around the fly head.

You can do it...:)

http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/files/5/3/DSCF3946.JPG
4- After you get all the tinsel around the fly head, then you can start wrapping the thread around the fly tinsel.

Make sure its good and tight.

http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/files/5/3/DSCF3948.JPG
5- After you get the thread all wrapped around the fly head and tinsel and get it all tied off. You can cut off your fly thread.

http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/files/5/3/DSCF3949.JPG
6- Add some super glue on the fly thread and let it dry before you put your fishing line through the head.

http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/files/5/3/DSCF3951.JPG
7- Take your favorite fishing line and tie a #2 trebble hook on and then add 5 color beads.

http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/files/5/3/DSCF3953.JPG
8- After you get your hook all tied up and your super glue is all dried on the fly thread. Then you can thread your fishing line through the fly head. I will also add another bead above the fly head for more color.

After you do everything right, you will have a nice fly all tied up like this one.

All tinsel. fly heads, and beads all came from Siggs Riggs. They also have treble hooks in there web site.

Check it out and get some made.

Well I was working more on my fly tying and thought I'd show you all what 5 1/2" of tinsel would look like. It looks very good and alot more easier to wrap around the fly head. So I happen to make one with just 5 1/2" of tinsel and the fly on the left is the one. The fly on the right has 8" of tinsel on it and I just like it that way because it has alot of color to it. Its pretty much up to you how you like your color to your fly to look like.

The left fly has 5 1/2" of tinsel.
and
The Right fly has 8" of tinsel.

Ok Member's,
Here is another way how I can tie up some flies and show you how to do it. I been doing it this way for a long time and the flies do catch lots of fish.

http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/files/5/3/DSCF3957.JPG
The things you will need to have are scissors, #2 trebble hooks, Siggs Riggs tinsel, tape, fly bobin, beads, and 50# mono fishing line or whatever you like to use.

http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/files/5/3/DSCF3958.JPG
1- Cut off a small piece of tape and put it on the corner of the tinsel. This is to get it started on the plastice straw.

http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/files/5/3/DSCF3959.JPG
2- Once you get the tinsel started around the plastic straw. Carefully keep going all the way around the straw.

http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/files/5/3/DSCF3960.JPG
3- As soon as you get the tinsel all the way around the straw its time to tie it up with the fly bobin. Make sure you get the thread good and tight as you wrap it around the tinsel.

http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/files/5/3/DSCF3961.JPG
4- Soon as you get the fly thread wraped around the tinsel and you get it tied off and cut, its time to put a small amount of super glue around the thread.

http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/files/5/3/DSCF3962.JPG
5- While your super glue is drying, its time to get your hook and tie it on your fishing line the you like to use. Soon as i get the hooked tied up, I then put on two beads and cut off a 1" piece of straw and add another bead and slide all that down the fishing line to the hook.

http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/files/5/3/DSCF3963.JPG
6- Get your flexable plastic tubing and cut about a 1/4" off.

http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/files/5/3/DSCF3964.JPG
7- Take your 1/4" piece of tubing that you cut off and place it on the end of the straw. Then carfully slid it all the way down to the tinsel. Make sure it is nice and snug on the tinsel.

http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/files/5/3/DSCF3966.JPG
8- After you get the flex tubing all the way down to the tinsel. Its time to cut off the straw right next to the flex tubing.

http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/files/5/3/DSCF3967.JPG
Now once you did everything right, this is what it should look like. Its called my caznik blue mirage super salmon fly.

Here is more caznik super salmon flies using flashabo tinsel.

http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/files/5/3/DSCF3969.JPG
Things you will need here are scissors, beads, tape, #2 trebble hooks, flashabo tinsel, a fly bobin, and 50# mono fishing line or whatever you like best.

http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/files/5/3/DSCF3970.JPG
1- Take your flashabo tinsel out and cut it in half.

http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/files/5/3/DSCF3971.JPG
2- Next you cut off a nice size piece of tape and tape the top of the tinsel. I like to use at least half of this type of tinsel because it glows in the dark and I like alot of glow.

http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/files/5/3/DSCF3972.JPG
3- The you wrap the tape and tinsel around the straw. This is kinda of messy and you have to take your time here to make sure it all stays on.

http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/files/5/3/DSCF3973.JPG
4- Now you will have to tie off the tinsel with your bobin. Start tying the tinsel to the left side of the tape. DO NOT TYE THE TAPE

http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/files/5/3/DSCF3974.JPG
5- After you get it all tied up, then you can cut off the tape. Becarefull that you do not cut off the thread.

http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/files/5/3/DSCF3975.JPG
6- Glue the thread and let dry.

http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/files/5/3/DSCF3976.JPG
7- While your super glue is drying, start tying your hook and add two beads and then cut off a 1" piece of straw and add another bead.

http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/files/5/3/DSCF3977.JPG
8- Cut off a piece of flexable tubing and slid it down the straw all the way down to the thread. Snug it down tight.

http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/files/5/3/DSCF3978.JPG
9- Cut off the straw to the flexible tubing.

VN Cazz. Doesn't it just make your day when you boat a fish on a lure you made yourself? Excellent thread with easy step by step picture instructions.:)

Thanks guys,
Ya the reason why i love to make them myself is because I really like when I can catch a big salmon on something that I made myself.

Looks good caz, I like the looks of your flies. I've been tying my own flies for trout, and harnasses for the eyes, but never for the big lake salmon, guess I'd better get cracking.
