Well it’s about that time to sign up and get your reservations ready to camp and have a great time fishing this new fun event which is called this year the 2008 Dreamweaver & Big Jon charity fun tournament challenge. Once again I am holding the charity fun tournament and if you are new at this challenge this is how it works. Dreamweaver is giving all of us that like to sign up to take this competition fun fishing event a great deal on there lures once again. Now you can use any kind of fishing rod you like in the event, even your favorite dipsey for your dipsey rods. But the only lures and flashers that you can use is what Shane from Dreamweaver is going to send us. I do not pick out the colors myself. Allot of the colors are either new colors or the old good stuff that we all like and always use. What I do is tell Shane from Dreamweaver where my fishing event will be held at Muskegon and he will find out what he thinks is best for all of us. This year we will all have is 3 Reg. size spoons, 4 Mag. spoons, 2 Spin doctors, and 2 flies. Just remember these are the only lures you can use for the whole day out fishing. My goal this year is to have at least 50 boats in this so we can make lots of money to give to Benefit 4 Kids for charity so some young boy or girl has a chance to enjoy something outdoors like hunting or fishing.

This years tournament we will be making donations to Benefit 4 Kids. We are donating to the outdoors wish program. Benefit4Kids was founded in 1998 with its' primary mission to grant the outdoor wishes of children with life threatening and life limiting illnesses (www.benefit4kids.org). All cash proceeds are going to charity except for big fish.

Lure packages will cost $40 and include 7 spoons, 2 flies, and 2 Spindoctors. A portion of lure packages will go to Benefit 4 Kids.

Entry fee will cost $30; which include 5 raffle tickets and team T-shirts.

Optional big fish challenge for $5.

Additional raffle tickets can be purchased (by tournament captains and crew only) for $5/piece or 5 for $20.

The total cost of this tournament will be $75.00 and that will get you in the big fish winnings. $70.00 will not get you in the big fish winnings. When you sign up I will send you a PM with my name and address so you can send me a check for everything.

Winnings will be awarded accordingly (You can win one prize per person)
· 1st Place - 15 additional tickets, trophy, and additional lure package from Dreamweaver.
· 2nd Place – 10 additional tickets.
· 3rd Place – 5 additional tickets.
· Big Fish – Cash.

Prizes (thus far) to be raffled off, include:
· 2 Electric Silver Captain’s Pak Downriggers.
· Silver Dual Manual Planer Rigger
· A pair of Silver Dual Multi-Set Rod Holders on Pedestal Base
· A pair of Silver Multi-Set Rod Holders tree features
· Lure package from Dreamweaver Lure Co.

These prizes are contingent on getting at least 30 boats.

Rules

1. This is a FUN charity tournament. We ask people to share fishing tips on the radio (Channel 72). Please keep your comments at a PG rating. This is a family orientated event.
2. You may ONLY use the lures provided in the lure pack. NO OTHER LURES FROM YOUR BOAT! If you lose a lure you are down a lure, no replacing the lure with a like lure in your boat.
3. Entry fee, lures, and big fish money MUST be paid by July 4th. You must sign up by July 1st.
4. Fishing starts at 5:00 AM and lines pulled at 11:00 AM.(All captains must be at the weigh in by 12:30 and no later)
5. Boats must only use 6 rods.
6. Three-man limit on catching fish and a MAX of 4 fisherman per boat.
7. Weigh in 5 fish of any kind (King, Coho, Steelhead, Browns, and Lakers).
8. Each fish is worth 10 points plus weight.
9. Know what your big fish is. You get 1 chance to weigh your big fish.
10. NO CULL RULE. If you net the fish or box the fish, YOU MUST KEEP THE FISH. There will be no throwing back fish unless they are not legal.
11. All captains must sign a waiver form before they fish.
12. If you do not show up for the event, your lure package will be donated as a prize and money will not be refunded (certain circumstances may be considered).
13. No changing colors of the lures (no tape, etc.) You may change the fly line.

If we are fishing this tournament and anyone happens to see any lightning, you MUST report to Caznik (Channel 72). Cancellations will be called for lightning, wind warnings, small craft warnings. Tournament will still count if fished at least until 8:00 AM.

For those of you who have never fished this event it truly is a blast. It's the most looked forward to and well attended event of the year. The fact that everyone has to use the same exact tackle evens out the odds for everyone.
From two guys in a 16 footer to 4 guys in a big glass boat you can only run 6 rods and run the spoons/SD/and flies you're given that morning. The colors given in the kits have always been dynamite. Conversations at the weigh in always revolve fishing tactics and you'll always walk away with some new things to try.

The timing of this event couldn't be better either. The kings are thick near the end of July at Muskegon and limits have been the norm.

The $40 lure package you receive would cost a minimum of $56 ( most likely more) at any tackle shop.

The top raffle prize of 2 capt pak electric riggers is valued at close to $900!! The other raffle prizes thus far are similarly impressive. That's more than some big money tourneys and you don't have to have the best catch to win it

The best thing of all is that while we're having a great time making new friends on the water and at the weigh in... We're helping a young man or lady and their family create outdoor memories that will bring smiles and sometimes joy-filled tears for the rest of their lives.

You should be just fine at Fishermans landing, but if you are worried about shallow water. Stay away from Snug Harbor, because that is shallow there.

Holy smokes! I've been on a 33 ft weekender that we can get up to 2.5fow. That's some serious draft ya got there.

There's plenty of deep water to stay in launching from Fisherman's. Do you have a chip with depths for your gps?
You can follow the lake channel all the way up to the piers. It's very wide and plenty deep.

This is what Al Baggett from B4K happen to say on MS and thought that I'd share it with you.

This is absolutely amazing guys! Thank you so much for signing up and being a part of this fun event. The first time I have heard of this event is when Tom contacted us recently about raising some funds for B4K through a fun fishing trounment and I must admit, I'm impressed with what I've seen thus far! It's great to see so many people signing up each day to not only have a fun day on the water, but also help make the dreams of terminally ill and life limited children nationwide come true!

Benefit4Kids is a 100% volunteer organization, based out of Macomb MI, working with kids nationwide! B4K was started in 1998 and since then we have been able to grant the "Outdoor Wishes" of more than 45 kids! Getting the word out about B4K is the hardest part but slowly it is and as it does more and more kids are realizing they too can have an their "Outdoor Wishes" come true! With the average cost of an "Outdoor Wish" costing around $3000.00 each, these types of fundraisers such as the "Dreamweaver Challenge" become that more important!

Now remember, you do have a crew that does fish with you. He can also buy tickets to win prizes for either him or help out the captain that he fishes with all the time. So get your crew to buy tickets to and help you out if you like to win more. But otherwise only one of the four major prizes from Big Jon can be won per person. Caz, I would like to make a pledge to this event to help you raise funds for this worthwhile charity....

Here is what I propose- I will donate personaly 2 cents per pound against the total pounds caught by every boat in this event. It does not sound like much, but if we can get every boat to match this pledge, it could be a total pledge boardering on $700-$1,100.00 net. If 35 boats brought to weigh in 50 lb of fish, everyone that pledged would pay $35.00for a net of $1225. (if my math is correct) towards a fantastic cause.

We have 39 boats in this fun tournament so far and still need 11 more. I had sometime and was going through the Benifite 4 kids web site and seen some of the kids pictures and stories of there hunts or fishing trips. Some of the stories about these kids got to me and I was very happy to see them have a great time on there wish. If you guys have sometime to read there stories and see the pictures its pretty nice to see what we all are trying to do in this tournament by helping out a young boy or girl make there wish.

This is absoultly amazing to see all these members coming together for what sounds to be a fun filled day on the water! Thank you to Caznik and all the other organizers of this event for thinking of Benefit4Kids when deciding to make this event a charity fundraiser as well.

Everybody always says to us "I don't know how you can do it"....the truth is we can't without the support of individuals like yourself! All we do is organize the opportunity for these less fortunate kids to realize their dream come true, but without the awesome support we get, we would not be able to do this! The average cost of a trip is about $3000.00 right now, so you can see how important every fundraiser is to our efforts. Benefit4Kids is a 100% volunteer organization, which means 100% of the donations brought in go straight to the kids!

To make this event even more meaniful to everyone, let me introduce you to the newest kid we have just received paperwork on. 15 year old Nicholas Wallace from New Port Richey Florida suffers from type 1 Neurofibromatosis, which “is a condition characterized by changes in skins coloring and the growth of tumors along nerves in the skin, brain, and other parts of the body”. As a result after 3 surgeries due to enlarging tumors throughout his body, nick lost his left leg from the knee down. Nick is doing much better today and now running around (literally running) with a prosthetic leg and not only is full of energy, but Nick lives every day knowing the tumors may come back!

Nick loves the outdoors, especiall fishing and living in Florida he is use to catching salt water fish…..but has always wanted to catch the monster Salmon found in the Alaskan Waters that he reads about and see’s on TV. Well nick is also a HUGE Football fan and would like to fish with Steve McNair. Benefit4Kids will make sure Nick’s “Outdoor Wish” comes true…..and what better sponsor to help B4K make Nick’s dream come true, than a group of guys/gals with big hearts participating in a fundraiser based around Salmon fishing!!! I just signed on to the team as a press correspondent and am really excited to be a part of this tournament. All proceeds will go to Benefit For Kids, a non-profit organization that was founded in 1998 with its' primary mission to grant the outdoor wishes of children with life threatening and life limiting illnesses. These folks work hard to give these kids a chance to do things in the outdoors that they may never have had the chance to otherwise. Things outdoor related that many of us do regularly like fishing and hunting, and often take for granted.

Also this tournament and it's organizers are working hard to make this a fun event to ensure that everyone has a good time and everyone catches fish. The sponsors are continuing to pour in to support this tournament and the raffle prizes are awesome! If you appreciate what these companies are doing to support this tournament and cause, please let them know about it!
