The North Bay OPP is continuing their investigation in regards to a OPP vehicle that submerged at the North Bay Marina, Memorial Drive, North Bay, Ontario.

On Thursday June 14th, 2007 at approximately 5:00 p.m., the OPP Marine unit completed their patrol on Lake Nipissing. The marine unit includes a North Bay OPP officer and a summer marine assistant. They were in the course of removing the Sea Swirl OPP Vessel from the water with an OPP unit and trailer. The marine officer backed the vehicle and the trailer on to the ramp. The officer than operated the vessel on to the trailer. The assistant was instructed move the vehicle and trailer forward as trained. The vehicle then rolled backwards down the ramp and took on water causing it to submerge. The assistant was able to escape the vehicle before completely submerging. No one was injured during the mishap.

The vehicle was towed out of the marina and will be examined by police officials when it dries out to ascertain the cause, if any, of a malfunction.

Wow, I've always wanted to get a lounge chair with a six pack and just sit at a loading ramp for a day to watch people ramp their boats.
