When december came it was bitter cold as the lakes froze accross signaling the end of another too short year of fishing. Then in January it warmed up and we were fishing by boat again before the ice even cleared. Then as it warmed and opened up completely we fished every night we could in the chase for big walleye. The cold windy nights were not for the warm blooded as the temps dipped into the 20's and wind chills sometimes single digits. Most nights were spent chasing and finding where the big fish were. The weeknights were harder to fish because of work, but the pressure was lighter and we some times found ouselves alone on the lake. The crowds of anglers who showed up in boats since they could not fish the ice were staggering. We had a few fishless trips, but continued to continue fishing until figured them out. We did well catching many double digit fish and plenty of eaters too. The time for me was nearing an end before winter returned and the pace quickened to boat a real trophy fish as my wife grew tired of my quest. On a last chance trip for me I connected and got one of my best walleye ever. She clocked in at 30.5" with a 19.5" girth and wanted to share this one with you. Enjoy.

Nice fish Tim! Did she end up in the fryer or did she go to the taxidermy?

Thanks guys, the reward was definately worth it. She was returned to fight again when she's bigger.

LOL at Steve. Hell I can hardly get my head out of doors already.:o

Mike, I caught her on a drowned rivermouth of Lake Michigan in Muskegon County on a HJ12 black and gold Husky Jerk. We troll the break lines at night in 10 fow and fish with the electric motor and rod in hand imparting a slow sweeping action in the bait pulling it forward and dropping it back slowly to draw bites in the 35 degree water. My arm still hurts from all that jigging, but I'm sure I'll get no sympathy from you guys, or my wife for that matter.;)

And thanks for the kind words everyone except Steve.:p

Real nice fish Tim! I haven't caught one of those monsters on the west side in quite a while. I used to be an addict to the middle of the night escapades. Still even got the gear! I feel like Curly when he goes to court and they ask him if "He swears..."(to tell the truth). NO, BUT I KNOW ALL THE WOIDS!

This fall I hope.
